Apart from the few apologists, we now understand that the greatest threat to international peace and to the West is indeed Russia. People laughed off those who have been saying this for years, and who insisted last year that this was the case.
PERHAPS
there was an opportunity after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The West COULD HAVE allowed buffer states on Russia's border to continue to exist, while supporting them strongly in their moves toward democracy. We didn't have to expand NATO to Russia's border. Many top Russia experts warned against this at the time. Russia would eventually be strong enough to choose to deal the enemy at its borders, and make no mistake, NATO on the border of Russia is indeed the enemy of Russia.

IRAN
Enough already!
We overthrew their elected government to support a dictator friendly to the US. The Shah was a good friend and most of the Iranian people became very pro-Western and particularly pro-US. The Shah became oppressive and was overthrown by the hardline Shia's who Clinton helped the Sunnis fight in their war against Iran.
The US position seems to be that Iran has no right to do anything against the continued onslaught by the Sunnis who have always wanted the destruction of the Shia state in Iran. They fought for a decade with Iraq as their proxy. The Sunni have used their terrorists to continue the offensive. Al Qaeda has always been Sunni. THEY attacked the US directly in NY. There are many other Sunni terrorist groups (ISIS and others).
Yes, Iran has their own terrorists. Their effort is primarily in countries near to Iran.
MY POSITON is for us to understand that Iran will get nuclear weapons (Trump has assured that).
Is this really different than Israel having such weapons? Or Pakistan? The US must stop the embargo against one of two or three countries where there is any respect and longing for the West and its ideas (the others are Israel and Jordan). Yes, there are anti-US marches. If there, many of us would probably support their opposition to the US.
We must stop our supporting of Sunni sheiks and their Sunni terrorists, and support Iran instead.

Let us stop all military support for the Sunni sheiks. They financed 911. They financed Al Qaeda. The have financed terrorist schools throughout the world. They have blackmailed the West for more than 50 years by controlling oil production. They murder our journalists.
Compare the damage done to the US in least 100 years by the sheiks and that caused by any other country or group other than Russia and the Warsaw Pact. There is no comparison.
Iran? Really?
Could the result of such action be instability within these countries? Sure! Is it really in the US interest to continue to prop up the dictatorships in the Middle East?
