Dead On Arrival
Dead on arrival
I keep my life,
close to my heart but not my head.
Wearing the memories like battle scars;
arsnic laced and cold as lead.
Imaginary badges that pierce my chest,
faded, torn, and worn.
Drawing blood after wounds have healed,
the venom, lingers on.
Nursing the pain
to keep alive,
the past I can't leave behind.
Merely a symptom of what plagues my soul,
and eats me up inside.

This was a really powerful piece and one with which i could relate so well.
