• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi how can a person stop daydreaming? I pray, read the bible, try to stay busy and fellowship when I can. It's not anywhere as bad as the beginning of the year, when I was not in a church and getting regular fellowship with people. It's getting better but how I can I improve on this?
thanks,
jan

Lost in my emotional pain. I noticed this and I have to respond.

Daydreams are not evil or laziness. They are the gift from God, they open the door into the mind. Window which you can see inward, to see what you forgotten. See what you lost... your dreams.

Take some time and I highly recommend you pick up "The Artist's Way" or any one of Julia Cameron's books. Recover what you lost. Remember we are created in God's own image, we love, we serve, we give, and we CREATE!!!!!!!!

Daydreams means your not doing what you love to do, nor are you allowing yourself to enjoy creating.

I guess I'm having a hard time making friends since we moved here 6 years ago. People come and go, this is a military town. I've been in a church for about 6 months now and I feel like I'm trying and trying and not getting very far. Daydreaming is not reality I know but sometimes it just takes the edge off...

I can agree with this to a certain extent in that I'm not working (I'm going to school) with what I'd like to be doing.I think daydreaming also relieves some stress for me as I've had to put a lot of time into recording and in school.

Find out what you have a passion for in life and persue it. If you are bored or feel empty where you are at, means you need a change of pace.

God has gifted us with awesome creative minds. They will keep working even if we don't want them to. Just a sign that your not challenging or doing what you love to do.

My best suggestion is to take some time and just explore different ideas you like to try. Don't be afraid or say "Oh I can't do that." You are more capable than you think, just you might not allow yourself to apply your gift. Remember God is not about limits, he is limitless. Follow his example and break your fears/limits. You might be amazed by what you discover.

Remember the greatest artists are the greatest amateurs. Wisdom comes from being an amateur, love it so much that you never give up. Over come your mistakes and keep on growing. From your faith to whatever skill or trade that intrest you. Follow your passion and listen to your inspirations. =)

I hope this helps you, for this is my passion. To encourage others to grow beyond their boundaries. =)
