I totally agree. It really doesn't take THAT long to plan a reception/wedding. The only thing that may take awhile is booking the location(s). Plus, with a shorter engagement there's a lot less temptation. I'm all for long dating and short engagements. By the time you get engaged you should be SURE that you're getting married, and all details/issues should be worked out. Your engagement should only be as long as it takes to plan the wedding.

I couldn't agree more with you! I am all for long friendship, long dating relationship, and then short engagement. I think we would go crazy with the temptation if we also had to have a long engagement after all this time. Then again, the Lord says that he will not tempt us above what we are able. ;-)

My 1+ yr relationship (non-commited) ended April 2.
I am still dating someone that I met last summer and I had begun to think of as just a friend. We talked last night and I now know that he very much wants to be married. Our conversation last night has made him very attractive to me and I can't wait to see him next because I really hope a kiss might be coming soon.

Thanks coolmom. I'm feeling . Even if things don't progress with R, it's helped me get through the pain of ending the relationship with T and get over the anger. That's a good thing.
