  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If they are married you should drop em like a sack of potatoes.

This. Married is married, regardless of whether or not the couple is separated and finalizing a divorce. Furthermore, a person so recently coming out of a marriage needs to focus on reestablishing their life. If children are involved it's even more crucial to have that time so that the children are not confused by their parent dating someone they see as trying to replace Mom or Dad.

Has anyone ever done this, or found out their date was still married? And how did this turn out eventually?

Just curious...

Yes.

Well, no not me.. but my husband dated someone who was still married.

Me.

We dated while I was separated, but not legally divorced. But my marriage was very much over, and it unfortunately takes one whole year of separation to even file the paperwork for divorce here (let alone the months it takes for the judge to review it and give you a divorce, or reject it based on spelling mistakes or other stupidity  and make you re-file)

So yeah, my husband dated me while I was still married, and that worked out pretty well for him  If I do say so myself :p LOL

But if you mean dating someone who is married but not separated... no, uh, not a good idea :p Dating someone who is committed to someone else is just wrong. But if they are in the process of divorcing, I personally have no issue with it, because at that point they have decided that the marriage is over, and the commitment isn't there. Just because the legal process is slow, shouldn't hinder a person from moving on.

I have. One of my ex's was going through a divorce due to her husband's infidelity.

I moved to be with her. We ended up living together for a month and then it all went downhill. I don't care what anyone can use to justify with the situation. I had so many ways to justify it.

Lesson learned. If you have to justify it you shouldn't be doing it to begin with because either one, something is wrong or two you are not at peace with it and if that is case you shouldn't be in it to begin with.

I will never date someone in that type of a situation ever again.
