Most of the women at my office will be getting flowers or chocolates or something on Valentine's Day. This excludes me lol. I would love to get flowers someday. I have actually prayed about it believe it or not...I know it's not probably the least selfish thing to pray for, but I've always thought it would be really nice and romantic. Ah well :)

Don't feel bad, I prayed for it too!

Hey, wanna trade emails? I could send you e-flowers! They are just as nice, but last longer! The smell isn't quite as fragrant though. :sigh:

(Don't laugh, I sent myself e-flowers on my birthday since no one else was around to send them.....)

Hey, who says flowers have to come from someone of the opposite sex, right?

Question for the ladies here: if you are dateless, and if you had a brother, would you like/want/expect to get flowers from him on Valentine's Day? Or does that not really count and the money would be wasted? I never know if I should get my sisters flowers or not since they won't otherwise, except maybe from my dad. Any thoughts?

I know my brother better than that, he won't even get his GF flowers on V-Day! poor girl... Do brothers really do things like that???

My heart would melt if my daddy ever sent me flowers... what a sweet idea!!

Flowers are just a nice way of saying, I care enough about you, to send you a flower. To be honest, I'm not much of a rose girl anyway, I love Tulips. I won't be getting any flowers either...such is life, maybe God will send some flowers my wy some how.

I don't understand the flowers thing. What's so special about them to you all?

It's just a nice way to tell someone you are thinking of them, and took the time to do someting nice for them. Personally, I prefer hand-picked to store-bought, but that's just me...

Why do girls like flowers was a question brought up a few posts ago... or why are they special? I've given flowers before and never really thought about why they're considered special! I never will on V-day but the day'll maybe come again when I will and still I won't know - why flowers?

What's the equivalent for me? Is there one? If I got flowers I'd think it was sweet but...... holy cow, i'd rather have like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, don't even wrap 'em... or get me new hiking boots.... to me that's sweet!

I'm as caring and romantic as men get but I don't think there's anything all goey special that I'd want which is the equivalent of flowers for a chick, i mean, girl LOL.

I guess getting flowers is sort of a guy's way of telling you "hey, you're beautiful" without actually having to say it. Just says that to him you are beautiful (both inside and out) and the flowers sort of symbolize that. That's how I've always thought of it. If you got her roses that were dead and all brown colored, well what does that say? I hope I don't have to explain :)

For me, once in a relationship, words come without hesitation. I have no problem speaking my mind and complimenting physical beauty or inner beauty (how wonderful she is.) Those two things I'd always want her to hear spoken from my lips.

But before a relationship is established, that's a different matter, then your idea works for me personally... kind of like during that period when I like someone and maybe she likes me, maybe not, don't know yet, being cautious, would be great to do something nice because I want to and because I want her to know how I feel without actually saying anything.... Then the flowers say, "I think you're beautiful," meaning both on the inside and out.

So the flowers represent beauty? Okay, I never thought about that but I think that's a good & true answer.

But is there an equivalent to give men? Some men, according to some sources, like to get flowers. Uhh... okay. Not I. I wouldn't hate it. According to your typical male & female stereotypes I don't believe there is a male equivalent for flowers. That's why if I got a big, one pound bag of M&M's I'd be a happy camper, actually happier than if I got flowers. What does a big bag of M&M's say? Nothing symbolic about it in my mind except maybe chocolate is sweet and I'm sweet... I dunno. At least you get to eat 'em and be happy about that!!!!!!!! Personally I don't look at flowers and think, "Oh, how pretty." I don't do that with chocolate either but then again a girl couldn't give me a mountain range which I think is one of the most beautiful things on earth. So I'll take the M&M's and flowers would be nice but not close to the top of the list of things I'd prefer as a nice gesture.

I'm weird, aren't I?

I got my girlfriend a very beautiful, yet unique looking bouquet of yellow tulips a few weeks ago. (I got them for her "just because" )

They were gorgeous, vibrant yellow tulips, yellow luminescent glass vase, some yellow baby's breath type stuff... They were really eye catching.

She loved them, her and her roommate I guess both cried when they saw them... I told her the reason I got her those ones in specific is because "The flowers reminded me of you - They were different and unique to everything else that I saw, they were absolutely gorgeous, and they smelled good... all of which applies to you as well"
And the smile that put on her face was well worth it :)
