I know I posted this in another post yesterday, but many of you may not have seen it. This has been one of my favorite prayers for a long time. It is prayed in the Sunday Morning Prayer in the Roman Catholic Liturgy of the Hours (Divine Office).

skimming through it, it reminded me of Psalm 139 (the psalm of light), which is part of my morning prayers.

As I mentioned, I used to use this as part of the Divine Office every Sunday. I miss praying it, and I think I should get back to praying it each morning. It does a good job of reminding us of what is important, namely blessing and praising the Lord in all things!

I always thought it was cool that a verse mentions "ice and snow." I always think of the desert when I think of Biblical imagery, so "ice and snow" helps me relate more, I guess.

It is Psalm 148. And we do us it in our liturgical services. It is the part of the end of Matins called Lauds. The whole sequence consists of several psalms and we chant them every day at Matins in chapel.

LAUDS

But I thought only spontaneous, ungoverned prayers and songs could be of the heart.....
