Daniel 2:48-49
King James Version (KJV)
48 Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.
49 Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.
Daniel 2:48-49
New Living Translation (NLT)
48 Then the king appointed Daniel to a high position and gave him many valuable gifts. He made Daniel ruler over the whole province of Babylon, as well as chief over all his wise men. 49 At Daniels request, the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be in charge of all the affairs of the province of Babylon, while Daniel remained in the kings court.

48 Because we have the Lord we may succeed in this world but we will need always to follow him according to His plan. Daniel became respected by the king. We may have respect of the world or we may not but we need to be like Daniel and be someone they can ask questions and go to for advice, we need to point them to the Lord like Daniel did. This does not mean that men of power are men of God, today it seems to be the opposite. If men of God get in power they should remain men of God and not be corrupted by the power as many today are. Daniel was and would be willing to lose all his power to continue to follow after the Lord.
49 When we grow to power we should not forget our true friends. Daniel looked to men that followed the Lord to aid him in his knew position. We should look to our Christian friends for help and not look to the world that would bring us down. It is a great encouragement to spiritually growth to be surrounded by believers in the world.
