• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I just typed up a really long post that I thought might be helpful to some of us here and when i did it got erased before i could post it.

ill try again tomarrow instead here is something from a blog i wrote and im still very much challenged by it.

Galatians 5:1 says "for freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm then and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery."

I have learned that being free and living in freedom are two different things. Any time I take my eyes off of the cross and all Christ has said I return to a yoke of slavery. Rather than being taken captive by Christs words I become enslaved to my own thoughts. Sometimes it feels like such a leap of faith to simply take Christ at his word BINGO!!!!! that is faith and what it means to trust. a good mental picture that comes to mind is in Indian Jones and the Last Crusade when Dr. Jones steps out onto the bridge of faith (an invisible bridge that crosses a giant hole).

Salvation has nothing to do with our own effort just our responding as his word tells us "My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me. John 10:27" If "Salvation belongs to our GodRevelation 7:10 "then why should we take our eyes off of him and put them on ourseves and our failures. That would be taking on a yoke of slavery all over again. "he who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it" his word says. Thats a promise . It has to be true . "Let God be true, but every man a liar Romans 3:4."

God has given us his standard of total perfection and through the ten commandments we see that we can not keep that standard. As a result we must trust in he who is perfect and thus our eyes must constantly be fixed upon Christ. If Christ sits on the right hand of God after having taken upon himself the sin of the whole world then if we trust him we will be where he is also. We will not be put to shame. We are more than conquers through Christ because he is more than a conquerer.

If he has called our name and saved us then he has forgotten all of our transgressions and they are in this place that is as far as the east is from the west. Greater yet, if Christ has forgiven us then he has forgiven us for all our sin past present and future. He knows the kind of things we will do that greive him yet he has chosen to save us despite that knowledge. "For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him will be saved John 3:17" This is the truth and the truth will set us free. wether or not we will live in that freedom depends on our keeping the focus on Christ the author and finisher of our faith.

may we boast in him alone
