  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm trying out for a dance team on a basketball court. This will require me to have dance sneakers or tennis shoes. I don't have either that are suitable. I'll have to buy either a pair of dance sneakers or a new pair of tennis shoes. If I don't make the team, then I won't have much use for dance sneakers. Then again, I don't want to buy tennis shoes for the try outs if they are going to make it harder for me to dance. Anybody know if it will make a difference in my performance if I wear dance sneakers or tennis shoes?

Most likely for tryouts it won't make much difference. Personally, I don't like dancing in sneakers...I feel too restricted with my feet. But that's just me personally. :D I also don't like jazz sneakers...I prefer the smaller jazz shoes. But if you do make the team, a pair of jazz sneakers will be a good investment and one you won't be sorry you made! (And your feet/ankles/knees will definitely thank you!) I'd suggest looking on eBay or something - I've gotten several pair of dance shoes from there for very reasonable prices. Otherwise, PM me...I have links for several online dance places that you may be able to find something. :)

Good luck with tryouts!!!

For the tryouts I don't think it really matters. But if you make it I would buy the sneakers if I were you. I have a pair, and they are great. It allows you to point you toe better and your foot just has more freedom. You can also stand and pointe! lol.

Yes I agree, jazz sneakers are great, (I personally think so) mainly because yes you can go up on point (they have boxed toes) where normal jazz shoes don't, and if you ever got into another type of dance, you can use jazz sneakers for it. I am a ballroom dancer myself, but I also take jazz sepretly, and the only time I ever wear my ballroom dance shoes are for show cases, or competitions, but for the most part, I just wear jazz sneakers for the lessons and pratices because they are much more comfortable too heh :D

I would advise converse shoes or some fake copy of it. I was part of a contemporary dance team and we had to dress like 'urban people' so I bought converse style shoes, and they are nice because they let you feel the ground, and at the same time they are nice and close to your feet and aren't bulky. You can also go on point with them
