  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Daniel 5:22-23 King James Version (KJV)
22 And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

23 But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

Daniel 5:22-23 New English Translation (NET Bible)

22 “But you, his son Belshazzar, have not humbled yourself, although you knew all this.23 Instead, you have exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven. You brought before you the vessels from his temple, and you and your nobles, together with your wives and concubines, drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone—gods that cannot see or hear or comprehend! But you have not glorified the God who has in his control your very breath and all your ways!

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

22 He was aware of what happened to his father and what caused it to happen, the God of Israel caused his father to live like a ox but this did cause him to be aware of the Lord’s power but he kept living as though he were the Lord but he was just a man that God allowed to be the ruler.

23 Knowing what the Lord did to his father he mocks the Lord by taking the holy vessels and using them, God’s mercy prevented him from dying on the spot for his actions. He exalted his own gods that were nothing while rejecting the Lord. His gods had not control but the Lord was in full control and had the true power that the king claimed he had.
