Daniel 3:8-12

King James Version (KJV)

8 Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.
9 They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.
10 Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:
11 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
12 There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Daniel 3:8-12

New English Translation (NET)

8 Now at that time certain Chaldeans came forward and brought malicious accusations against the Jews. 9 They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, “O king, live forever! 10 You have issued an edict, O king, that everyone must bow down and pay homage to the golden statue when they hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, trigon, harp, pipes, and all kinds of music. 11 And whoever does not bow down and pay homage must be thrown into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire. 12 But there are Jewish men whom you appointed over the administration of the province of Babylon—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—and these men have not shown proper respect to you, O king. They don’t serve your gods and they don’t pay homage to the golden statue that you have erected.”

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

8 The Jews have been hated by many; this could be because there are God’s favored people. We Christians are God’s people today and people may spread rumors on us.

9 The wanted to please the so first they send him flattery. Only Christ’s kingdom will never fall and remain forever.

10 The king wanted to show his power by having those that were God’s people to bow down to an idol he had made. This would show that he was more powerful than any faith they had.

11 So the price of true faith would be death many times people have had to choose life or choose Christ. To die is gain and to live is Christ. If we die for our faith it is a blessing that we see Him sooner than we thought we would.

12 These three men were not just Jewish but they were put into leadership roles they stayed true to the faith when everyone else turned to pagan ways to save their lives. God gave us life and we should be willing to give it up for serving Him.
