Daniel 3:4-7
King James Version (KJV)
4 Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,
5 That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
6 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
7 Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Daniel 3:4-7
New Living Translation (NLT)
4 Then a herald shouted out, People of all races and nations and languages, listen to the kings command! 5 When you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes, and other musical instruments, bow to the ground to worship King Nebuchadnezzars gold statue. 6 Anyone who refuses to obey will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.
7 So at the sound of the musical instruments, all the people, whatever their race or nation or language, bowed to the ground and worshiped the gold statue that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

4 This king had authority over many people he conquered more than just Judea. These men were from different places and spoke different languages but trained in the ways of Babylon. When the king spoke you listened and then followed what he wanted.
5 Idol worship was very common in these times. The king made this statue and wanted them to consider it a god or one of there gods. Gold was a common choose for an idol because they often used the best materials they had in the idol.
6 A fear many would be motivated not out of worship to this idol but out of fear for their lives, the fiery furnace may have been used to forge this statue. Death by fire was always a fearful way to die and very painful. The Catholic Church used fire try to win others to their beliefs. Fire purifies metal it may have been viewed as a way to purify them.
7 The people of course bowed down to the statue but there was three men would refuse that the king had not noticed yet. This would have been a many people falling on there faces worshiping this idol for fear of life some of them may have accepted this idol as their own god after doing so.
