Who are you praying to and what are you feeling? While prayer has been shown to have meditative value, that is secondary to it's true function - communicating and sharing your heart with the living God. Short, prescribed, daily prayers just don't do it justice, let alone for someone who is not Christian.

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory forever.
Amen.

Hmm, Prayer shouldn't be said once a day at the same time! God doesn't get put off till that time. It's an open mic, Pray all the time. It's not hard, and it helps you focus on God more. Prayers are ment to be personal, sure, Jesus said that prayer, and we repeat it, but how does that help? We just repeat something we memorized, and after a while it's not special anymore, Just pray to God all the time, in your own words.

That's basically correct.

Depending on why you're asking, or to what end you need, I may be able to help by giving some advice on how to pray, but I can't offer any pre-packaged prayers other than the basic one Christ gave in the gospels, which is more a general idea of what prayer is.

But the Spurgeon book.... Yep, that's a good 'un.

My being a non-Christian doesn't mean that I can't pray to Christ/God. I follow whatever I like. I go to churches and hindu temples both (though I am not so regular in going to these places).
And, I needed prayers that are tranquil and bring you a serene state of mind.

@I am currently reading a book "The power of positive thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale and in that he has mentioned several bible quotes that are helpful in regaining peace as well as mental strength and he has recommended to recite these verses whenever you need to. So, I kind of liked it.

Thank you. We used to speak it in school too. I like it.

I understand where you are coming from, but I don't think that you really understand what prayers really are, or what the significance of prayer really is. I know you're not out to offend here, but what you are talking about doing really trivializes prayer, and the One to whom we pray. I don't mind if non-Christians pray to God, but please at least consider Him and His feelings on prayer. Since we are talking about the Christian God, the place to look for this information is the Christian Bible. He is a real Being, a Person who feels - we must not forget that when praying (or ever). And that is so easy to do with the sort of prayer you are suggesting. He is not a mere avatar or positive thought. You must understand that when you pray, you are calling out to Someone who is more REAL than you could ever imagine.

If you want to pray to our God, then good! But please read Matthew 6:5-15, and Luke 11:1-13. These are Jesus' teachings on how to pray. They have real weight! Think hard about them, seek their meaning. Ask Christians about what they mean.

Honestly speaking, I am not as aware as you are about Christianity of course. Still I know few things cos of the books I read, friends and also that my school was a Christian school and I was there for many years.
Yes, it's true that 'cos of my lack of knowledge I might speak things in a manner someone here would find offensive, though I don't mean it that way. Here I can find an opportunity to Learn many things I want to, although I refrain from posting here many times.
And, believe me whenever I pray I would mean my words, I won't just utter them without meaning anything.
Thank you for the recommendation. I'll try and read Matthew 6:5-15, and Luke 11:1-13.
I was asking this, cos I remember in school we were given prayers before study, after study, before lunch, assembly prayers, and they all were in the bible I think. (I can post those prayers here if you would like to see what I am talking about.) So, we used to speak these prayers daily, that's why I thought there'd be more such prayers for other daily activities, I don't know how it would trivialize the prayer, when we were taught these things in the schools too.

I am sorry for the harsh words, I know about myself more than you do. And you just can't infer whatever you want from my post and derive any meaning that pleases you, just to raise a doubt on my faith in things.

Right, no offense taken.

I see what you're getting at. They have a different approach. Saying certain prescribed prayers at different times is not in itself bad, but doing so to the exclusion of meaning what you pray is. God knows when we're telling the truth and when we're not - there's no sense in praying something you don't mean. Prayer shouldn't only be a habit or only be prescribed. Your heart's got to be in it.

you know i hope this doesn't offend you but the bible says that God doesn't hear the prayers of the unregenerate, so it will do you no good. find out who our God is or pray to another one because this one will do nothing for you.
So now you mean I am unregenerate? I am really amazed at your mentality.
