:) Hi folks.Im a bit confused on two things. If at all possible are we meant to attend mass daily?.also why is sat night mass teh same as the sunday mass? well it is in my church. Also, i want to attend mass daily eventually,as i enjoy it so much,an will do even more when i can take communion, but our church dosent have daily mass, or adoration.the church is open daily for a while an open for mass 3/4 times a week. would this be due to staff levels as it were, money. It is sad,as is the fact that many churches are being closed.i worry for the older folk,an new generation .will we have a church where i live.I must pray for this daily i guess.

If at all possible are we meant to attend mass daily?

The Eucharist is our source and summit, but only Sunday (the Lord's Day) is a Holy Day of Obligation where we are expected to attend Mass if possible. (It is at Mass where we are fed and mother Church is concerned with our spiritual health so sort of insists that we at least have the opportunity to receive Communion at least once a week.)

also why is sat night mass teh same as the sunday mass?

Saturday night Mass is the vigil Mass of Sunday.

it is like how for the jews, the sabbath starts on sundown friday night, so the old way of counting days is sundown is the start of the next day, so sundown saterday is the start of sunday, so saturday night mass counts for sunday

i would not say that we "have to" go to daily mass, but it is nice, it is kinda like a privet devotion, some people might need this in their spiritual life

I think you should phone the diocesan Chancery to find out why your parish priest is not saying Mass every day. A parish priest is required to say Mass everyday, with or without a congregation present...

Peace in Prayer...

I've been going to daily mass as often as I can ever since I was in RCIA. For me, it's probably been the best thing I could do for myself. RCIA, at least in my parish can only take you so far and adult education is sort of lacking, so daily mass has been my main source of catechesis.

I imagine the priest shortage may be the reason your parish doesn't celebrate mass everyday. My parish of about 900 families has one priest so we don't have mass on Wednesdays. Instead we have a Scripture Communion service where we hear the Gospel and can receive Holy Communion. It's nice if you want to keep up with the daily readings and want to be a daily communicant, but it's not mass.

Anyhow, I strongly recommend anyone interested in the Catholic faith to get to daily mass as often as possible. Other churches might have more programs, but us Catholics, we got the mass.
