Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” - Proverbs 16:18

The statement about pride is emphatic: if you act out of pride and refuse to humble yourself, destruction in some shape, form or fashion will come. Refreshing Daily in God's Word: Daily Devotion: A Tip About Pride

Yes, pride can not only "cripple" common sense and block logic and reasoning, it can "blind" the one immersed in it to their own danger. Pride can deem one very "short-sighted". In addition, and what is most tragic of all, is that it can absolutely blind one to their own abysmal spiritual condition with the living God. They are, in essence, headed towards a cliff (an abyss), and oblivious to it.

What a curse it is. And one that blinds us to the nth degree, so that we stubbornly cleave to it.

How tragic.

This comes to mind:

"He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy." ~Pr 29:1

Thank you for this profound and timely study and meditation on this cold and partly cloudy Tuesday morning in January, my friend.

God bless you.
