  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thanks everyone who prayed! Your prayers worked wonders!

My dad had FIVE blocked arteries and five bypasses on Thursday. He has had NO pain at all! He says he feels like he never had surgery.

The doctors all said he narrowly avoided a serious heart attack, since the cath showed a large blood clot barely hanging on to the side of the largest artery in his heart. They kept dad in surgical ICU wednesday night, expecting the blood clot to let loose and cause a heart attack, and if that happened they would take him to surgery in the middle of the night. My sibs and I could hardly sleep, expecting the phone to ring at any moment, but he made it to morning for a 6 AM surgery. All went well and he was up and around in just 24 hours, able to walk without pain or difficulty.

It was lunchtime when they released him yesterday, and he wanted to get a bite to eat, so we stopped at a little diner in Girard, and he ordered....you guessed it....a cheeseburger and fries. :sigh: What's a daughter to do. My older sister won't let him get away with that while he's at her house! :D

While he was in there, I met a man whose wife, Judy Johnson, was in for a valve replacement, and she had a stroke during surgery and was in a coma for three days. The doctor told Mr Johnson to be prepared to disconnect the respirator that she needed to breathe, if her brain waves didn't improve. I offered to pray for her, and I asked God if he could let her wake up and be able to greet her husband and be aware of him, at least long enough to say goodbye, and for Him to make them know that it was God who aroused her, and she did awake, but she is still having the effects of the stroke. She needs our continued prayer.

And another woman, Wilma, had four bypasses and is not recovering well, and was scheduled to go to a rehab hospital where they would have to help her recover from pneumonia and weakness in her chest and legs. Wilma was unable to walk even late yesterday when I saw her last. The doctors suspect a blood clot in her legs, but the cath didn't show anything. Please keep praying for her, too. She and her husband of 57 are devoted catholics.

Thanks to all the praying people out there. Your prayers do more than you realize! I am amazed and strengthened by the things I have seen prayer do this week!

That is great news, lambslove! The power of prayer never ceases to amaze me! God is good! And it sounds as though you were in the right place at the right time to pray for the other people who were having surgery. I will certainly say a prayer for those you have requested it for.

Thanks for the update. I hope your father continues to improve.
