  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've been wanting one for almost a year and it's been hard not to get one because of College. I almost purchased a Dachshund a week ago but stopped myself. I need to have time to spend with the Dog. I love them very much that I call them the Hot Dog. I want to ask those who have the Dog what are they like?? In personality and everything, are they good?? I plan to get one later in the year from a breeder.

Hubby and I got one about 4 years ago. We had to give him away, b/c the neighbors complained about his barking. Luckily my mom and her husband took him, so we still get to see him.

They are full of energy, he never gets tired!! He loves to play with toys and the other dogs. They are very independent. They are very protective of their owners. I have yet to meet a quiet one, so keep that in mind if you rent!! They are a great breed!

Please consider looking into adopting. There are many many Dachshunds up for adoption in shelters and rescues. If you are truly dedicated to the breed then doing some research and finding a life you can save will be well worth the time. I recommend www.petfinder.com or simply google-ing "dachshund rescue" and your location.

Dachshunds are very loyal little dogs. They do have voices though and are not afraid of letting people know about things. Due to their build they very very very often have back problems. They are also very prone to obesity. As a result, a strict diet and consultations with your vet from day one about this issue are a very good idea.

Good luck in your search.
