I'll probably see it so I can know how closely it stuck to the book. The adventure and mystery parts of the plot were good, so it ought to have some exciting scenes. I don't believe in Dan Brown's questionable interpreted "facts," especially the points about Jesus, but the movie should be all right if taken with a healthy dose of skepticism.

I read the book a month or so ago and enjoyed it. I just have trouble figuring how they're going to turn that into a decent movie. There is so much essential stuff in the books... so either the plot flow is going to be radically different, or the character development is going to be crap.

Well, we'll see.

I think it will be a really good movie. I've not read the book only because it's not the type of thing I like to read *Fantasy nut*, but would be more likely to see at the theater. I think it's a good story, but I don't look at it from a spiritual standpoint because that is never what the book was meant for, hence the big "Fiction" sign that hangs over it at the bookstore.

Plus, I love most of Tom Hanks' work. He's probably the only one in the world who could have pulled off a movie like CastAway like he did.

I plan on seeing it. I enjoyed the book well enough although I didn't think it nearly as interesting as so many seem to have. I agree with TerraSin on big 'ol fiction sign :)

I thought it silly when I heard (no source sorry-heard it on the radio the other day) that the Church (or someone within the Church) wanted the movie producers to add a disclaimer to the film.

i thought that the book was really good and it really highlighted different theories about the holy grail. if you look at some of the evidence that they menion in the book, you will find that it is true. eg. the last supper by da vinchi, in the book it says that there is a disembodied hand, if you count the number of hands, you will see that there is 1 more that doesnt belong to anyone.

very interesting and a good read. you should read it

People are going to start asking questions as a result of seeing this movie.
I think knowing a little bit about it could be good.
It would be a good thing if non-christians actually start asking questions, wants to know the truth about what really happened..
But if people aren't prepared to answer those questions, well.. that's not good.

I'd like to recommend a very good movie about it:
'The Da Vinci Code Deception'
It's based on a couple of the books released by christian theologians after the release of the Da Vinci Code.

^I saw a discovery channel special that appeared to go into the whole thing in a fairly unbiased manner that convinced me that the whole priory of sion thing is a hoax. When I first read the book, and some other non-fiction novels on the subject, it definitely caused me to question some things, and at first the theories presented seemed quite plausable. It caused me to question, which is great, because that's how we find the truth, by questioning.
As far as the movie goes, I enjoyed the book, and I definitely want to see how the movie meassures up. Plus, I've tended to always like the work of Tom Hanks and Ron Howard. I'm not going to stand in line opening night or anything, but I will definitely plan on seeing it. My fiance should be happy that there's a thriller/drama that I actually WANT to see.

Rebjorn made a good point about having answers for the questions people will have. I don't know if we need to see the movie for that. My Pastor never saw the Passion, but that didn't stop him from using it as an excuse to bring up the gospel.

If someone I knows rents the da vinci code (& I know atleast one will) I will watch it, but I ain't spending a dime for that stuff.
