I suppose the answer to that lies in what kind of historical evidence can be presented that would bolster the theory that Jesus and Mary were married and had children.
There is none, in fact all the evidence points to the accuracy of the NT.
But I just want to say something about the movie. I've been relatively quiet but I want all the non-Christians to hear my side of the story.
I'll use an analogy.
Imagine someone in your life that you really love. Someone that has been really good to you and has helped you out. Someone that has taught you things you're really thankful for. Imagine this same person one day teaches you that you need a parachute when you go skydiving because the Law of Gravity will kill you if you don't have one on.
Then imagine you're on an airplane ready for your first jump. You look around and very few people are wearing a parachute!? You ask them why? They say they don't need one because they don't believe in them. You plead with them because you know about the Law of Gravity and they don't listen to you. Then an in-flight movie comes on and starts insulting that person you love. The same person who told you about the parachute. The same person you love deeply. The movie says that person was not who they say they are. The people on the flight not wearing the parachute start cheering, because they don't want to wear a parachute because they feel its big and bulky and will limit their freedom on the flight. In your heart you feel horrible for them because they're going to have to jump without a parachute. What's even worse is that the makers of the movie care nothing about the lives of those who have to jump.
Now imagine how Christians feel.
Here we are, trusting in Jesus Christ knowing that we have broken God's Law - the Ten Commandments.
www.needgod.com has a great test showing how well we will do on Judgment Day based on God's Law.
But in his incredible love for us, He has taken our punishment on Himself for those who repent and trust in Jesus. Now you have this movie insulting Jesus and trying to deceive people into thinking they don't need Him or He wasn't who He said He was.
We protest because we're like the skydiver with the parachute, we're trying to warn people before its too late. This movie is fiction, I know that and I also know that nobody can take my Faith away. But that's not the reason I'm against it. The reason I'm against it is because its insults Jesus who I love, and it furthers the deception that people don't need Him.
That's my side of the story.
