Florida Charity drops 'Jesus' from name
STUART, Fla.-- In an effort to bring in more donations, the longtime Florida charity Jesus House of Hope decided to drop the word "Jesus" from it's mane. [Notice that the reporter refered to Jesus' name as a word.] Partick Slattery, executive director of the 24-year-old non-profit in Martin County, said the change will help the organization fulfill what Jesus commanded in the Gospel of Matthew: Help the needy.
Slattery said many private foundations could not donate to the charity because it includes Jesus in the name, and people are often reluctant to give what appears to be a house of worship if they donate to their church. The orginization's board of directors voted last month to make the change.
