When your born you obviously have no choice in how you will be raised. So if your parents are Christians then of-course they will raise you to follow the same traditions; depending on their, 'level', of Christianity as well. But what I ask is. Did you question your Christianity at a young age? Did you ever reach that defining moment in life when you say, 'Wait, hang on a minute'. This is the moment where many make important decisions which may change the course of their lives. How do you react to these thoughts or do you even have them in the first place? What is it within your own mind that convinces you that your making the right choice? How do you KNOW that your choice is right and that of an atheists is wrong?

I had my year or so of disbelief.

Really, it is the effects of the decisions and the factors surrounding the decisions. I was raised a Roman Catholic and was a closet Atheist for about a year and a half. Eventually it was clear to me that God does in fact exist and I tried to be a Roman Catholic again. That lasted for a few months and I eventually became an Eastern Orthodox Christian.

That was in 2006. Since then, life's been good. I am no longer depressed as I was at a younger age. The most hellish years of my life were when I was a closet Atheist. There were other things going on as well, but really, I could write a book about it. Or you could ask and pm me.

With regards to Atheism, my personal thought is this: How can someone live a life of nothing but telling others that they are wrong and that there is "nothing", ya know?

i think everone has to search it out for themselves at some point....

i was raised southern baptist and was at church everytime the door opened...(dad was deacon and worship leader, ... mom sunday school teacher and pianist) sooo i never questioned anything growing up... didnt really understand it all either though....
then went my merry way after highschool... lived a horrendous life.... was out of church for a long time... then decided i wanted to know what I believed , not what i was told.......

studied the bible, and many books and tapes... like "the case for faith" by lee strobel who was a hard core athiest until his own journey to disprove christianity.... and basically just started talkin to GOD....ALOT....
and begin to see that .."wow!! it is true!!! historically, and intellectually, AND we arent just called to a BLIND faith!!! since FAIth comes by hearing th word of GOD... i really begin searching and seeing for myself that its alll true...

i walked an aisle at a very young age.... and gave my heart best i could, but there was always a nagging feeling at the back of my mind that i had to research myself as an adult..

its stilll hard to believe because its so amazing and i often tell GOD im sorry when i doubt HIM in any way.....

HE knows our hearts AND so HE knows our doubts and fears.... and holds onto us anyways...... thats my opinion anyways....

I wasn't raised Christian, but left free to make up my own mind. When I decided to become a Christian, I got neither encouragement nor discouragement about it. Rather, my family was all "Oh, that's nice, hon. What would you like for lunch?"

I spent a lot of time thinking about it for several years, investigating different philosophies and religions, before I decided what was most probably true. For a couple years before I decided to follow Christ, I was calling myself an agnostic, though I suppose I was actually more of a deist/pantheist.

How do I know I made the right decision? Well, the weight of the evidence came down that way. And it's worked for me: God has always come through for me, and I've learned from experience that I can trust Him.
