  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

If I went to Brighton and held up a bright crystal, would it make any difference?
No. Because it is a hunk of rock. Well, FWIW, I'm sure a few people would give you some very funny looks, so there's that.

So herd instinct dictates morals and truth?

You sound like a typical skeptic. If it sounds wooey then dismiss entirely.

What does "just" mean? Is paracetamol "just" chemicals. Is a Picasso "just" paint. The way I see it is the programming is a metaphor for the association of ideas, and also perceptual learning.

Just as the phenomenology of ones wedding ring, or a photo of ones child has unique learned meaning, so "crystal programming" is a form of altering memory and phenomenology.

An analogy would be for instance, in changing from atheism to Buddhism, the view of the world around us would change.

The trick is not to auto skepticise every thing.

In the book "How Pleasure Works" the scientific psychologist P Bloom says a key is to understand the idea of essences. Whether its grand reserve wine vs plonk, coca cola vs pepsi, or a genuine rather than a fraud, or a renowned spiritual healer rather than a charlatan, or a arrow from the battle of hastings opposed to any old piece of wood - essences are an important part of perception.

IN programming a crystal the lady in the video is engaging is essence perception and creative phenomenology.

You as a skeptic have an alternative concept of essence of crystal. Just like if you supported a particular baseball team, or were a buddhist, your view of the essence of a particular fielder, or the dalai lama, would be influenced.

You see "just" where she sees spiritualy significant meaning. There is not an objective fact that says a crystal is just a crystal. Objectively, theres the noumanal so to speak. As subjects we have phenomenology, and "just" is just one more attitude we can take... rather than "the scientific one trademarked".

Spoks is just one more agent on the ship.

You cant neutralise everything with a ghostbusters ray gun. Even if buddhislm is false, the idea of world (pr part of the world, ie crystals) as a programmable crystay still makes sense.

Thanks for the interest, I like to discuss.

Well I never actually watched the full video so I am not sure of any specific medical healing claims.

But for me it works like this. Its more like positive thinking, and learning associated with a crystal.

Also suggestion as a non-verbal level as well as the positive idea of healing.

Associative memory is defined as the ability to learn and remember the relationship between unrelated items such as the name of someone we have just met or the aroma of a particular perfume.

If iI were to say, crystal "crystal-nice" crystal-nice" 1000 times over, the next time I said crystal I would probably be thinking "nice".

So the long term memory is associating the idea of nice with the object crystal. Its been "programmed" and the appearance of the crystal reflects this inner mindset.

A bit like a phobia, or a trauma memory, but in reverse.
"
  • Emotionally charged events are remembered better
  • Pleasant emotions are usually remembered better than unpleasant ones
  • Positive memories contain more contextual details (which in turn, helps memory)
  • Strong emotion can impair memory for less emotional events and information experienced at the same time
  • It's the emotional arousal, not the importance of the information, that helps memory "

Also in hypnosis there is autosuggestion. Like "I am being healed" has a placebo effect, plus its positive psychology.

1. Suggestions should be formulated in the positive
This is perhaps the most important “rule” of suggestion. Suggestions should not employ negative grammatical predicates such as “not” or “less”, etc. For example, “I am not anxious” is a poorly-formulated suggestion. “I am calm and relaxed” would be better because it is positively formulated. In othe words, we do not mean “positive” in the sense of “good” but rather the formulation of suggestions so that they directly refer to the experience or response that they seek to evoke rather than attempting to do so by means of verbal negation.

Its not a medical healing, as in a cure for cancer etc, but a creation a tranquil mindset associated (by some) with inner health.

Its part of a structuring of total environment.
  • We are all highly susceptible to environmental triggers and these triggers can powerfully seed responses in us.
  • Language shapes environment as strongly as smell, taste, touch and sight.
  • Suggestions can become much more powerful if seeded with universal patterns that people can relate to easily. For example, talking about the common experience of sitting or lying on a leg and then finding it's gone numb as a way of seeding the suggestion of later developing hypnotic anesthesia.
  • It's very important for you to be aware of the triggers in your own environment and, as far as possible, ensure that you surround yourself with items that produce positive associations within you. http://www.uncommon-knowledge.co.uk/articles/uncommon-hypnosis/environment-to-influence-people.html

One can most likely achieve the placebo effect without an actual placebo. The body is capable of healing itself both physically and mentally but the exact means of unlocking that healing mechanism is not yet understood.
