  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Not too often; Yeah, I MAY get teary at a movie or something - but that's not really crying...

Real crying is rare. The GUY in me makes it private. RARE is the person whom I'll let in on that. Losses, generally... grief of some kind. I cried like crazy when my grandpa died... I cried when a long term relationship ended. Heck, I cried when I graduated from college - I loved college, it was so huge in my life, I grieved it was now past...

I don't cry. Or rather, I cry so rarely (once every few years?) that it seems like I don't cry.

Sometimes I get misty eyed but it doesn't feel like actual crying.

Only time I can remember in the past four years or so is about a year and a half ago. I sobbed in the shower over rejection from my Mom.

I sometimes cry during prayer, just the other day a sister from the States told me her husband was feeling really burdened to pray for me, and I had to admit that the prayers couldn't come at a better time. I felt such a mixture of strong emotions that it was enough to bring me to tears in prayer later.

About 3 years ago or so, I did when my ex gf and I split apart. I had thought at that point, I broke m teard ducts or something, becasue I would cry for nothing after that. I had a very hard heart.

Ever since I've been back around my family and gotten very involved at church again, I tend to cry a lot for other people. I don't really cry for anything personal, just for other people's circumstances.

I'm strange. :p

I tear up quite a bit, often at unexpected things (displays of love, beauty, hope, patriotism). I cried quite a bit around 9/11, watching the memorials and reliving the event. Last time I flat-out bawled hysterically? When Vaughn died (Nov '08).

The last time I really cried was on 09/12/11 while attempting to watch a documentary about 09/11/01. They showed "the falling man" video and...I couldn't help but cry.

I cry pretty often, though. Usually during prayer/petition, but I will also cry at especially emotional movies/songs/etc.

An anthropological question (in case we have an anthropologists among us)...

Is it true that men cry less than women?

IF so, is that cultural or physical?

I think of the FEW people I'm close enough to to get a sense of that. My parents and two sibs (one male, one female), the several close friends I have (about 50/50). Even my own self (when I DO cry, it's almost always private). MY very, very limited experience is that it TENDS to be true: men do cry less than women. I just don't know if this is an universal characteristic that may be chemical in nature OR if it's a cultural aspect (especially since I cried more when I was a little boy and such was culturally okay).

Any anthropologists here to weigh in?
