  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I see it a lot around the site and in real life-- the idea that crushes aren't good because they're distracting you from where God wants you...

Doesn't anyone remember Jacob and Rachel? Jacob worked for seven years in her father's fields for her, and when he was tricked, he worked for seven more!

If he had taken the approach that time spent pursuing a mate was wasted-- he'd not have had Joseph, and Israel would not have survived the famine.... Food for thought... :p

basically having a crush means you're romantically interested in a person. Right?
Yup, I see no issue really, was just playing that side of the coin... seeing what could possibly be in people's minds when they see the thread name and such.

A futile interest, usually. And one that corrupts the mind in an unhealthy way.

Otherwise it's "I like her" - enough that you would talk to her and not feel any different than usual. Just a little more keen, I suppose. And you can walk away feeling positive and good inside. Not overly self-critical and feeling hopeless.

If you have a crush on someone to the point that the mere thought of them turns you into semi-functional mess, then you'd want to avoid pursuing anyway, for your own sake as well as theirs. Because that's not a good state to be in and it would only get worse.

But, that's just my take. Others may argue the point.

As I came to understand the causality of time, events are absolute (more or less), but the characters are replaceable.

If Joseph did not came to be, someone else would be fulfilling exactly the same role he did.

The bigger the magnitude of an event, that harder it is to change it (either through prophesies or by a time traveler).

The pattern is consistent with quantum mechanics. The bigger the scale gets, the more certain it becomes. The smaller the scale, the more uncertain and easier it is to change.

No one is indispensable. Many were called indeed. But only few are chosen. We can't just let fate to sometimes take its course but to take responsibility, accountability, and have full awareness of everything we do.

Now back to topic. It's probably okay to have a crush on someone on a healthy level. But if one were to take further actions about it like ask your crush out or catch their interest, take a look first and study carefully where it will lead.

I think the main issue is that when people say "crush" they usually mean a passing unrequited interest in someone that will likely lead nowhere and, yes, that can be a distraction.

A genuine interest in someone that is likely to reciprocate is another matter altogether.

Nah I think God would have used Leah to produce Joseph. And just keep in mind Rachel traded her hubby off for some mandrakes. ^_^

Erm Rachel and Jacob was not a crush.
and as Traveller said he would have used Leah if that was the case, Jacob was suppose to produce 12 tribes, he was to be the father of Joseph.

May I remind you that Leah, not Rachel, was the mother of Judah, through whom the Savior would ultimately come
