  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ahh, CRTs. You thought I was mentioning Critical Race Theory. Back when I was a young one, CRT meant Cathode Ray Tube, a type of technology that used electron beams inside a glass tube to display images. We had a spare CRT TV in the 2000s, and I used it a bit to watch Discovery Channel - How It's Made and other shows, though I preferred the flat screen Westinghouse 37 inch TV.

If only I had a CRT monitor to watch some classic 1990s anime.

CRTs Explained:

This guy on Reddit had a nice CRT TV for Yu Yu Hakusho, a classic anime from 1993:

So guys, did you have CRT (tube TVs) when growing up? I know @Pommer told me about how he had to use a CRT TV with 14 channels and received signals from local line of site broadcast towers. What did you miss about older televisions compared to modern flat-screen TVs?

@AlexB23 ,
I owned a large tubeTV for years before upgrading to a flatscreen. It was a DVD/VCR combo tv. I miss that tv. But boy was it heavy to move around!

Nice. What brand was your tube TV? Yes, those CRT TVs were heavy to move.
