  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey! I am 'trying' to make a blanket, crocheting. Well, what is a good stitch to use? I want it fairly easy, and quick. You know the blankets that are kinda 'holey' (holes in it)? Maybe a stitch kinda like that (kinda like a 'popcorn' stitch or something, but easier?)
Well, any ideas or adive err... something?
Thanks!

Hi! I enjoy crocheting also. If you are not using a pattern a good and easy stitch is 'double crochet stitch'(ds). Start your chain when you get the length, ds, skip one and chain one. If you do this all the way across, you will have something like filet crochet. I have made blankets doing this and they have turned out pretty good. Good luck on the blanket!

If you're interested I can email you a pretty easy corner stitch pattern. I started making this one after mastering my double crochet. I love it, and have made MANY blankets (mostly baby blankets) with this stitch. You start in the corner and crochet till the square is as wide as you want in, then you begin to decrease. It's really, really easy.

Or try a shell stitch - two double crochets, chain 2, two double crochets in same space. Makes a very pretty pattern.

If you aren't very experienced it would probably be better to use a pattern. If you look in the yarn section at Wal-Mart they have an assortment of free ones for you to take. They are usually easier patterns. Or search the internet for a pattern.
