Critical Source

What does it mean when a teacher asks you to do a short research paper and say that you must use at least one "critical source."?

And, does anyone know where I might find a critical source on Shakespeare and the concept of twins in his plays?

Might check with your professor ...
I assume that a " critical source" is one that is accepted by those in the field ( the Bible is a critical source for Theology ; the constitution is a critical source for law and government )
...run a search shakespeare and twins :
foot notes .... what book , publisher , ibsn# , page number ... your source that helped you document your postion on the paper you wrote ( not just an opinion ).

A critical source in this instance would probably mean one of Shakespeare's plays (that uses the concept of twins)
I think that "critical source" can also be called "primary source" eg one of Shakespeare's works. A "secondary source" would be a book or article about Shakespeare and his works
