"Created for today's gracious interiors, Pinehurst is as generous in spirit as it is in scale. This very traditional design exudes the luxury and warmth of European influence and styling. Fluted columns, oversized crowns, bulls eye rounds and turned bunn feet give this crib unique and eye appealing excitement. Beveled inset panels and box mitered framing add even more light and action to this very traditional rendition of our history. Inspired by antiques and family heirlooms, the craftsmanship of this collection is built to be passed on to the next generation. Made of hardwoods and select veneers, this piece is constructed for not only beauty but durability."

My parents and grandparents are chipping in for this one getting this one. It's a bit spendy, but it turns into a toddler bed and is really sturdy. My sis is going to get us the matching dresser that has a changing table as it's top.

We're pretty stoked. We're going to get a bassinet first because we have to move two months after the baby is born and don't have to have to schelp that around.

Just my humble opinion.... do not under any circumstance buy a Simplicity/Graco crib.... that's what we bought and its been a nightmare... they've had recall after recall for almost 4 years now of both the old models and the new models, and there's been 3 deaths 7 entrapments and 55 injuries. They won't replace ours or the other more than 1 million crappy cribs. They send a "kit" and expect everyone to feel better. I am extremely unhappy with our experience and if I had it to do over again even low income, I would buy a higher priced crib. There is a book out called "Baby Bargains" (maybe library has it?) that tells you what the safety rating of different brands and different items is and I highly recommend it because I sure wish I had it when I bought a crib when pregnant with David :(

Ours is convertible but haven't used it because we just keep putting new babies in there.

I was at target the other night and this is the style of crib that I am most interested in.

Girl, that is a Simplicity crib... in the same group of styles that has been recalled over and over .

I ended up talking DH into buying a crib.... The baby will be either in bed with me or in the cradle in our room for probably about 3 months, but I NEED a place to change diapers that won't kill my back. So we got a crib~ something totally different than we've had before, and hopefully it'll be sturdy enough to keep for grandbabies (since my oldest DD is now pregnant I'm thinking ahead. ;)) lol

I notice i didn't update. We got our crib weekend before last, and it'll be one we can use as long as we want (until baby is close to two or so) and then transition him to his own bed.

We're debating putting the crib in our room for the first couple of months so we have ease of waking up and feeding/changing until I am more able to move and be up and about and let him become a little more independent.

We're on the hunt for a playpen and swing still, as well as a stroller (at insistance of MIL though we will be babywearing)

Resist the pressure! :)

When pg with #1 we told everyone we didn't want a stroller because we would be babywearing. They thought we were crazy and would change our minds within a few months.

But 8 years (and 4 children) late we are still stroller free! They still think we are crazy but have given up ^_^

Your posts are so encouraging! My parents think we're crazy for not wanting a stroller. We figure we can always get one later if we find we're struggling without.

:DWe're in our third trimester now and we haven't got a single thing for baby yet (except a few little gifts from family and friends).

Where is this one from?

I think we'll do the bassinet firt too because I know the baby will be in our room for a while anyways. But I want to get a crib as welll just so the room will be set up.

Here, we're told not to use bumpers at all. I've never used them with either of my kids.

We didn't think we were going to have more kids so gave our baby stuff away all except the porta-cot. So depending on how we go financially, we'll probably start off using that.
With change tables, the bonus is you don't hurt your back..but the disadvantage is you can lose the use of them pretty quick, so I'm thinking this time we'll get a set of drawers and put a change pad thingie on top of them so we can still use it afterwards. Cause I'm SURE this is the last baby ;)

We're seriously considering a convertible crib, with matching dresser(s). If we go this route, I want 2 dressers, for adequate storage in later years. One just won't be enough, I think.

We're most likely not doing the bassinette, unless it's used, as the babe will be transitioning to his/her room w/i months. We'll use a pack and play for travel, and to keep in the living room when DH is sleeping (shift work).

We spent Thurs looking at furniture, and really had a great time. Isn't it fun?
