Bing brother...

Seriously I don't like reminding people specially you because I expect you to know everything...

Any way, I guess I have to remind you however before I do that I am going to let you explain further with regards to your statements you have made so far...

I didn't expected "Bing" because I want an explanation in response...

That's an interesting one I hadn't heard.. Of course a Muslim I am sure will respond..

If you look at the coins of the Sassanids of Persia who were supplanted by being defeated by the Muslim Arab armies you will see the crescent pretty prominently so the crescent was already a widely held symbol in the Middle East:

i_sas_yazdIII_RAM_1_o.jpg
The sassanid empire were not muslim, they pre dated Islam so of course they were pagans and they beleived in the crescent and star. Here is some info about the sassanids from Wikipedia:
The Sassanid era, encompassing the length of the Late Antiquity period, is considered to be one of Iran's most important and influential historical periods. In many ways the Sassanid period witnessed the highest achievement of Persian civilization, and constituted the last great Iranian Empire before the Muslim conquest and adoption of Islam.
It says clearly they wre the last dynasty beforeIslam.Islam came and got rid of all the Pagan tiruals and symbols. It had nothing to do with Ilsma. If the ottomans used it afterwards it did not come from Islam. It goes on to say in Wikipedia that the sassanids were everything else but muslims it says: Religion Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism not Islam. That coin that you displayed above is the coin of the Queen Purandokht, daughter of Khosrau II, the last woman and one of the last rulers on the throne of the Sassanid dynasty, 630.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sassanid It also shows on the same site that it was the coin of Yazdgard iii, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yazdegerd_III It had nothing to do with Islam. The sassanids fell to Islam after that period. Some of the sassanids who accepted islam brought their traditions and beleifs with them while converting the website e says.So your claim of star and crescent has nothing to do with Islam as it was originally brought By the prophjet Mohamed and understood by the companions. if it was in innovation aftyerwards from the sassanids then it has nothing to do with Mainstream islamic teachings.

This topic of discussion makes me more nationalist each time,,lol

You should maybe mention what are being taught to elementary school children about the formation of Turkish Flag, nowadays. You know, battle, many martyrs, martyrs blood filled in a ditch, moon and stars reflected upon the collected blood...

The thing I always find annoying/amusing is when geniuses place the star inside the circumference of the moon (clearly an impossible situation)!

Bruce
It annoys me too that the Southern Cross in the Australian Flag is made up of star shapes. Clearly an impossible situation, because we know that constellations aren't actually made up of star-shapes. But you know, I think that flags aren't created for their scientific accuracy.

Also Turkish flag has strict measurements of geometrical values, if considered, the star actually appears to be in the crescent slightly, which was Bruce's issue.
Yes a made-up story but the red color symbolizes the blood of the martyrs originally and the cressent and star is both an ancient turkish and an Islamic symbol which has been adopted as Islamic by the same people anyway..A meaningful flag for us..

I mean the reflection of the new moon and star on the blood puddle.

Yes, that is the one I am talking about, don't know if you remember those but there were even illustrated posters of that incident at elementary schools.
