About 6 or 7 years ago, i met a ''creationist evolutionist''. He took the position that evolution is true, but that God has also directly intervened and created certain things i.e Adam (man) directly, but that animals and non-adamic races could have evolved. Although i understand now that most christians on this forum believe everyone came from Adam, but i won't get into that debate here.

Anyway, does anyone subscribe to both evolution and creation? i.e you might believe certain people or animals evolved but other were directly created. Perhaps the world is just God's playground of such experimentation.

I think all creationists acknowledge evolution. You would hardly meet, for instance, a creationist who doesn't hold that cars decay or that they can change through programmable functions (light on/off). Darwinism however, is an extremist position. Just like some would hold that there is absolutely no change, they meet their match in those who say that there was only change. You would have fun debating either position.

Evolution IS creation!

By creation i meant the view that God created things as they are or look like, or resemble today, not through evolution.

- It's quite possible that God created Adam directly, but that the animals and non-Adamites evolved.

By evolution i meant macro-evolution (which has never been observed, tested or demonstrated). No standard creationist believes in macro-evolution. However i have encountered a minority of creationists who believe in both creationism and macro-evolution i.e that Adam was directly created 6,000 or so years ago, but that animals or non-Adamites evolved.

That would probably fall somewhere between OEC and ID, actually. IIRC Glenn Morton believes that Adam was the offspring of a hominid but was stillborn because of a chromosomal fusion; God resuscitated him, giving man both a supernatural origin and a naturally-derived genome (complete with the fused chromosome 2). Not exactly my take, but it's probably the most interesting of the "Adam specially created - everything else evolved" theories.

Also, the term "special creation" is useful for avoiding random tiffs with evolutionists who (very rightly) point out that evolution is one means for God to create.
