What other questions? If you have a question --- ask it.
Notice: A question --- not a whole slew of copy/paste questions from somewhere else.
But I'll warn you before I even answer --- if you can't get past Genesis 1 --- you're in for a ride --- because it gets even harder from there.
So fire away.
That picture I posted was to show you that "four corners of the earth" is indeed an acceptable literary term.Please show me where I have ever copy/pasted a question into this thread. Heck, show me where I've ever copy/pasted a question EVER on this forum.
To repeat my question... you posted a picture that seemed to indicate there were four corners on the earth. Where are they?
Just FYI, this island is a major communications hub. In 1973, it housed the U.S. Navy's Communications Area Master Station (NAVCAMS), a Top Secret facility that I worked in, and a major node on what was then called the AUTODIN Network. In addition, when North Vietnam descended on South Vietnam, and they started evacuations, Guam was a major stop-over for the Vietnamese fleeing their country - (even though later they wanted to go back). Guam also was the site of several top-secret communications tests that I won't even get into here. Soviet [or any] submarines can't get near the western coast of the U.S. without being detected, and if it wasn't for this island, many Chamorro would be whistling I LEFT MY HEART IN TOKYO.
I love the sign at the airport: GUAM - WHERE AMERICA'S DAY BEGINS.
It is the first U.S. possession that the sun rises on.
Hafa Adai, my friend.

If it was fact and not theory, it would be called Darwin's Facts of Evolution.
You done it now, bro!If it was fact and not theory, it would be called Darwin's Facts of Evolution.Gold!!!
Oh man, that's good
Somebody sig thisYou have to admit. Prime Grade A ignorance like that does deserve at least somewhat to be immortalized.
I hate to sound stupid --- but what's wrong with it?You have to admit. Prime Grade A ignorance like that does deserve at least somewhat to be immortalized.
Then why don't they call it the Law of Evolution, or something?Theories are not promoted to facts. Theories and facts are two different sorts of thing.
Sorry --- that train left the station awhile ago.Still waiting for an answer....
The minds have already been made up; the theory of gravity and the law of gravity and just gravity are 3 different things. You should know this by now.
Gravity = Gm[sub]1[/sub]m[sub]2[/sub]/r[sup]2[/sup] --- that's about all I know.
Stuff falls at 32 fps[sup]2[/sup] --- or 22 mph[sup]2[/sup] --- until it attains terminal velocity --- or something like that.

Because Law also generally refers to a different sort of thing. While a law and theory are very similar, typically the word "law" is tacked on to explanations that are very short, often a single sentence or equation, while the word "theory" is tacked on to those that are more involved.Then why don't they call it the Law of Evolution, or something?
Okay --- thank you.Because Law also generally refers to a different sort of thing. While a law and theory are very similar, typically the word "law" is tacked on to explanations that are very short, often a single sentence or equation, while the word "theory" is tacked on to those that are more involved.
For example, Newton's law of gravity is extremely simple:
All objects are attracted to one another's center of mass with a force proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
Or, equivalently:
F = -Gm1m2/r^2
Einstein's theory of gravity (dubbed General Relativity) takes quite a bit more work to explain, which is why it's called a theory.
But in general the difference between "Law" and "Theory" is so thin that it doesn't actually matter. The biggest thing that determines whether something is called one or the other is history.
