  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I think religion has many good values to it, especially the morals that people can apply to their everyday lives. But how in this age in science can people still deny evolution? You can accept a higher deity while also accepting the theory of evolution; the two are not mutually exclusive.

Logic also suggests that to evaluate a theory or any body of ideas, one must submit to and get inside that body of ideas, if only for the sake of argument.

Yet, very, very few indeed ever try.

Much of what logic dictates is passed over every day. The failure to evaluate creationism is as good an example as any.

It is just as valid to argue that evolution is not an absolutely linear progression of proven facts. It is as full of gaps as any theory.

But creationism has been evaluated by many Christians, most of whom have found it to be invalid both scientifically and theologically. Lack of evaluation is not the problem for creationism. It is the inability of creationism to withstand scrutiny.

I think you are confusing gaps in data with gaps in theory. No scientific theory is without some gaps in data. Some also have weak areas in the theory, but I think you will find these remarkably few in the theory of evolution.

We did evaluate Creationism in the 19th century, and found it lacking. If Creationists want to get back in the mainstream, they need to start doing science and submitting their research to journals. Complaining through school boards and politics will not get you at the science table.

the thing is, as far as you and any other scientist can tellme, evoltution has no proof.
Nothing in science has "proof". Proof is reserved for math and logic. Science has evidence, and evolution is in the lead of all scientific theories in that regard. Gravity has no proof either, but i'm sure you wouldn't object to the fact that it exists.
