  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Why do you think God is called, The Creator? Why do you believe that an all powerful being, who can do anything, who can create from nothing, who created the entire universe, needed to use a system like evolution, to create man, and why do you then think that instead of simply inspiring a writer to record these events, He would decide to leave a figurative, poetic account of it instead? Because, that doesn't make a great deal of sense to me.

That bit there over at http://www.christianforums.com/t5451983-creationist-faith-rests-on-genesis-confirmed.html got me thinking.

Creationism (especially YEC) needs a better term that more accurately describes it. After all, Theistic Evolution also has a Creator and is Creation.

I propose that what is currently known as Creationism should henceforth be referred to as Genesism, especially given its heavy reliance on Genesis.

Strangely enough, Young-Earth Creationism does the trick, since no TEs believe that the earth is young. I'd hate to call it "Genesisism" - as if TEs don't read Genesis!

It's TE that needs a better descriptor. Creationism has a creator and creation, and it's an -ism based on those concepts in isolation, so it's well-named. But a more proper name for TE would be "evolutionary creationism" - because as you noted, we also have Creator and Creation.

I've never been a big fan, but Francis Collin's suggested BioLogos.

"BioLogos expresses the belief that God is the source of all life and that life expresses the will of God"
