  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am a cradle Catholic. I wish that more cradle Catholics had the faith and awe of the converts. My faith has always been there, but it didn't really come alive until I made a Cursillo Weekend. It was during this retreat weekend that I went from, "putting Christ into my life"- to "putting my life into Christ". This made a profound difference!!!!!!!

Dear Thepalmtree

Cursillo is a lay movement WITHIN the Catholic Church, which was founded in Spain following the unrest after the Spanish Civil War. Cursillo means “A short course (in Christianity)”.

The Cursillo weekend is three days spent on retreat where true Christian community is experienced and the absolute Truths of the Catholic Church are explained. The tripod of the Cursillo is a life of Piety, Study, and Apostolic Action.

After the weekend, one attends weekly meetings where our piety, study, and apostolic action is shared in a small group. And a plan of action is formed. Ideally, this group will hold you accountable to your plan for evangelizing your environment.

Cursillo opened my eyes to the true mission of the Church. Cursillo is fully in line with the Holy Father and the teachings of the Church.

A call to the diocesan office near you is all you may need to do in order to find out if the Cursillo movement is active in your area. There is also a Protestant version of Cursillo.

Cursillo inspired me to turn my life over TOTALLY to God.

In Christ, Patrick
