I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea a few weeks ago. I finally received my CPAP a week ago and started using it. It leaks and slips off my face in the middle of the night, so I'm constantly waking up. I haven't gotten one complete night of sleep since. Even with Ambien or using Aleve Nighttime tabs. However, physically I feel great. I have energy and I'm not yawning all day.
I'm calling Lincare Inc. tomorrow to get another mask, but in the meantime, I'm wondering if anyone else using a CPAP felt mentally odd...or off since they started using it. I don't know how to describe how I feel ...it's like I'm an entirely different person now. Personality and everything. I haven't felt like talking much, not because I'm down, but I just don't feel a need to. I also feel an odd sense of clarity I didn't have before. I've apparently suffered from oxygen deprivation/hypoxia for years, so now that my brain is getting oxygen, I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe my brain is healing and going through some changes.
Anyone using a CPAP have an experience like this?
