In Ezekiel chapter 28 Ezekiel was told to speak unto the prince of Tyrus, and declare unto him that he has set himself up in the place of God, and has declared himself in his own heart that he is a God, who sits in the seat (or place of God) in the midst of the seas (which is also a similitude of peoples and Nations.)
But the Lord makes it clear in verse 2 yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God. So basically this man has replaced the knowledge of God with his own knowledge. But here is the mystery, we see in verse 13 the Lord said; Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God And then also in verse 14 the Lord says Thou art the anointed Cherub that covereth;
By this we know the Lord is not talking about the literal flesh and blood Prince of Tyrus when he refers to this man. This man in scripture is also known as the Man of Sin who also will do the lusts of his Father the Devil. Many believe this covering cherub speaks of the Serpent, Devil, which also is Satan (Father of lies) and very well in spirit it does. But Satan is not a man, but is rather a spirit that works in man, which also causes the fleshy minded man to fulfill the lusts of his Father (Devil).
We are told in Ezekiel 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. So who was in the garden of Eden, and was a man, and was created perfect in the day he was created? It was the firstborn Man. Genesis 1:27; So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. So man was created perfect in the beginning, just as our heavenly Father is perfect. But that perfection ended when iniquity was found in Man.
And that is where the mystery of iniquity comes in by way of the serpent who tempted through fleshy desire which also led to sin. It is this spirit that works by way of fleshy desire that covers up the truth with a covering of lies, and thus this spirit is also named the Covering Cherub. And just as Adam was cast out of the Garden of God, Satan was also cast out of the Mount of God by reason of his own iniquity. We are told in Genesis 6:3;And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh:
And this spirit of the flesh causes man to strive against the will of God. Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. It is the same struggle between those of the Light, and those who live in darkness, just as this world is in darkness by reason of the Prince of this world. He is that spirit which covers up the mind with a fleshy veil so the Truth cannot be seen.
We see similitude of this shown in the veil of Moses in 2 Corinthians 3:13-17;And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
In this we see it is when we receive the Holy Spirit of God that this veil of covering is removed from our hearts and minds. We pass from the spirit of darkness and death, to the Spirit of Light and Life. We are born into this world under the bondage of sin byreasonofthe flesh, and the power of darkeness which is the nature of the firstborn man with whom that iniquity was found. We are born into that same spirit of iniquity by way of the nature of our firstborn man which also is earthly. Psalm 51:5;Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. That is why we must be born again of Gods Holy Spirit.
But many, like the rebellious children of Israel who received not that Prophet, were given over to this spirit of darkness by reason of transgression. Just as the Lord warned them through Moses Deuteronomy 28:28;The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart: And just as Paul warned the early Church not walk in the ways of others who refuse the knowledge of the Truth, and also walk in the ways of uncleanness. Ephesians 4:18;Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
But this mystery of iniquity which worked in the world by reason of this covering cherub and darkness would be allowed to prosper until it be taken out of the way, just as that blindness determined on many in Israel would removed after the fullness of the Gentiles is complete. Romans 11:25;For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
And it is only God who has the power to remove that covering from the mind, which He also has determined as part of His judgment. 2 Thessalonians 2:7;For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And that covering of darkness shall be removed by the brightness of his coming. 2 Thessalonians 2:8;And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Isaiah 25:7-8; And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.
And the fashion of this fleshy world will melt away. 1 Peter 1:24;For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
