Hey everyone! I was wondering how you guys feel about courtship opposed to dating. I've done some reading on it, and it doesn't sound that bad to me. Would you rather date, or would you want to be courted (or court someone)?

All courting is is dating appropriately. At least thats how I see it. So when your in that early relationship with someone do it under Gods law and everything will be fine.

Well my understanding of courting vs dating is as follows:

Dating-An engagement to go out socially with another person, often out of romantic interest.

Courting-is seeking a person's affections with the intent of marriage

Courting is the winner for me!!!

I have answered this question many times and I still answer the same way every time. I wish that we could resurect, our grandparents way of courting. It just seems to be more formal/romantic.

On the note of answering your question, I feel that courting is a better way to go about it, because being friends with someone is such a better plan, than just dating to have a relationship....

If I were to date it would be pretty much the same as courtship, regardless of what label I were to give it. I wouldn't feel the need to get caught up in semantics.

I believe in courtship. Dating is part of courtship, but not all of it. There is a lot of family involvement as well. That includes being put under the microscope by the girl's parents, which, believe it or not, I'm actually looking forward to. I have a lot of respect for parents who are involved in their daughter's love life. I will do the same if I have daughters someday.

I reject serial dating.

I think these lines become VERY blurred when you take into account the possibility of having close friendships with other women. A big challenge is having a good, Godly friendship with someone without it turning into the dating/courtship game.

I would prefer courtship, although I haven't figured out exactly what that will mean yet. I tend to be slightly more conservative than the IKDG definition.
