Hello folks. There is a lot of bad news in the world, but here is some good news that is trending. Scotty McCreery, a young country* musician called out a man who was abusing another female concert-goer on August 24, 2024. Goes to show how Mr. McCreery is a hero, and saved the day.
*Aside: I am not much into modern country music as I prefer classic rock and indie bands, though Scotty McCreery does have a few good songs such as Five More Minutes (2017), which I first heard three years ago in the taxi that takes me to work. The song gives me a 1990s country vibe, and has strong lyrics about how our life is finite on this Earth.
It makes me happy to see people speak out, and defend others. This heroism by McCreery reminds me of a proverb, or two:
1. Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV): "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."
2. Isaiah 1:17 (NIV): "Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow."
Quotes from McCreery courtesy of The Tennessean:
1. McCreery pointed out the incident. "Absolutely not, you just hit the lady. Police? Security? Is she OK?"
2. "Get the heck out of here", he added. "On God's green earth, at a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?" continued McCreery.
3. "Y'all let the cop know who hit the lady cause that is absolutely unacceptable. Whoever you are, that's the definition of a coward — hitting a lady," he said.
