  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

“Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, and attend to your herds; For riches are not forever, nor does a crown endure to all generations.”
PROVERBS 27:23-24 NKJV

As I think on this Scripture this morning I come to the realization that some things can go on for a long time and other things don’t endure for all generations. As I look out my window I see the creek and the large sycamore trees that have rooted themselves close to the water. And then I realize that fifty years ago when I was a kid playing on the creek bank, that these big trees weren’t here. Many things are in a constant state of change and other things like crowns, jewels and gold don’t really grow. They might increase in value, but in size, no. We must tend to and know the state of our spiritual flocks, and believe me; each one of us has someone who is looking up to us at this time in out lives for spiritual guidance. We may not realize that we are being watched, but we are. All we really carry with us after this life is the good we have done others. That dollar and seventy-five cents in my pocket will be in the hands of someone else. And praise God if I happen to give it to someone who needs it, then, I get to carry its value with me. I enjoyed what the Dake Bible had to say about this Scripture, share this with me:

“Do not trust your flocks to the shepherd only, but number them yourself and see that they are well tended and fed. Flocks will multiply generation after generation, but other riches and even the crowns of kings are temporary and will soon pass away.”

Some things in our lives we should keep track of ourselves, because they are always changing. This Scripture has given me food for thought today. I am so grateful for a loving God who was yesterday, is the same today, and will be the same tomorrow, this I can count and take to the bank. God is doing for me what I could not do for myself……………..JRE

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” PHILIPPIANS 1:3-6 NKJV
