Yep totally, except NOW. Because now with Steam, you set up your LAN but on no no wait.... you MUST log on to the internet to your Steam account in order to play the game. EVERY player on the LAN must log on and validate thier Steam account in order to then play OFF line!!!!

This is my BIGGEST bug bear with Steam. If I want to play on LAN, or play Half Life, or opposing force... WHY OH WHY should I need to log on to the inter net? WHY??? SOME ONE TELL ME WHY???????

I have tried the same question on the Valve forum, but being the professional establishment it is, I hear nothing from Developers, reps, or admins, but I get called a "stupid n00b" by what are known as "senior members" who do nothing to help but spread pro Steam propaganda like there is no tomorrow.

Hmm.... if I didn't know better I'd be tempted to think the "Senior Members" work for Valve. hmmmm?

They're getting there... They got the offline mode working.. Now they need a log-in offline mode

i have CS for xbox, i did have it for computer, but i could never get it to work, like whenever i clicked the mulitplayer button, it either wouldnt load the online players, or when it did load, it wouldnt load the server itself!

but besides the computer thing, CS rocks! i hope to get Xbox Live soon so i can play online

Like most games, CS turned to junk when it got extremely popular.

Back in the betas it was great- I played it all the time from beta .1 to .6 or so. Tried it again at something like 1.6 and it was worthless. Not to mention the community is flooded with the annoying and juvenile "l337 haX0rs".

But I had plenty of fun times leading the server and getting called a cheater for doing it with a 350 ping

Yeah I dont think they'll do that because the whole perpose of steam is to validate the legality of your software each time you play. So anyone with dialip has to pay 25c on their phone bill each time they want to play a game they have already paid for.

you can just reinstall halflife/counter strike 1.5 and play lans that way. i have dual install on my laptop for that very reason.

Steam is a good program in theory

AMEN!!!

That;s why I gave up playing CS when WON went down. DIdn't play for AGES (ok it was about 1 maybe 2 months).

In that time I played online in Return To Castle Wolf, UT2004 demo, Halo Demo, and Americas Army...... then reinstalled CS and am hooked again LOL.

What on eart makes it so good? It's not like it's even realistic or anything. And half the time I spend watching others play as I've been the 1st one killed AGAIN... but I cant stop LOL.

I JUST GOT IT FOR XBOX AND I MUST SAY IN THESE CAPLOCKS IT ROCKS!
It's pretty fun, I just wish that you could add more than 11 bots in the game. i don't have dsl yet, but I will soon. Will be on xbox live within another month! I'm hyped!

Yeah once I am on Live I think I may try it on Xbox. Play all the time on PC and while I love it to bits, I wouldn't mind seeing how well I now play in a h4x0r free environment.

Seems to me cheeters have got worse since steam.

One haxor was kicked from one of my fave servers. Not only was he wall hacking, and using an aimbot, he knifed me to death. So what?

Well... he was INVISIBLE at the time.

Actually it was qute funny but he did get kicked, banned from that server, and had his steam id reported to valve as he was advertising a hackers website as he played.

CS with no haxors.... now that would be a rare treat. Shame there is no mouse and keyboard for Xbox
