Adding to Paul is one thing, but have you just started adding to the book of Revelation?Paul calls prescient evolution a philosophy; and later, in the book of Revelation, Jesus calls it 'doctrine'.
And for the record, the Bible has a built-in dictionary.
Adding to Paul is one thing, but have you just started adding to the book of Revelation?
Just as it doesn't necessarily show intelligence it doesn't necessarily show ignorance. It depends...Well, occasionally you guys give something useful in your posts. Thanks for the definition. Although, I am sure MOST people in the REAL world would not have understood or known that this was the actual definition (probably because most people would have no malicious intent like some in knowing or forming the word). I, for one, am very happy to now understand the word because now I can proudly and correctly and FREELY say I am not a "freethinker" as pertaining to this word, nor do I ever want to be!
I can see that it is a "limiting" word and not so "free" after all (as it's very composition would "seem" to express).
The above definition states
"unwilling" to accept "authority" or dogma
"one who forms opinions on the basis of reason INDEPENDENTLY of authority"
and therefore, puts people in a narrow minded and UNWILLING position to learn making them subject to error on every turn.
The composition of the word suggests quite the opposite of it's meaning, though, and thereby, causes people to possibly misuse it. It is made of the words "free" and "thinker."
FREE
1. enjoying personal rights or liberty (the right to NOT be insulted because one believes or thinks differently)
2. pertaining to or reserved for those who enjoy personal liberty (to believe as one wants)
3. existing under, characterized by, or possessing civil and political liberties that are, as a rule, constitutionally guaranteed by representative government (freedom of religion)
THINKER
1. One who devotes much time to thought or meditation.
1. One who thinks or reasons in a certain way
I no longer consider myself a freethinker but I know for sure I am a FREE THINKER. I get to choose what I think and am not subject to the ridicule of those with limited thinking. I don't mind taking or listening to authority and yet I am not bound by what they say alone. I can move away from the error of some science because I am not worried about persecution or ostracism from those who are "unwilling" to think outside the "accepted" box of evolution and it's many errors.
Just because one is UNWILLING to accept authority or dogma does not necessarily show intelligence but can also be a sign of ignorance.
One can only hope. In a country where ignorance is considered a statement of faith, however, it's not likely to cange any time soon.Given that scientists are pushing back the boundaries of ignorance further and further every year do you think that this generation of creationists could well be the last generation of creationists?
When you look at what has happened in the last 50 years it makes one wonder what the next 50 years will bring.
Please let's not argue for or against this advancment of knowledge let's just accept that it will come no matter what.
Typos rush in where ignorance dares to trod, eh?One can only hope. In a country where ignorance is considered a statement of faith, however, it's not likely to cange any time soon.
You really have a thing against typos don't you? It's entirely possible to be intelligent, educated, and make the occasional typo.Typos rush in where ignorance dares to trod, eh?
Such is hope.
Not realy -- I make them myself every once in awhile. You really have a thing against typos don't you?
Did you read the rest of my post? A typo isn't a lack of knowledge, it's a slip of the hand. Not realy -- I make them myself every once in awhile.
I just have a pet peeve when people talk about how educated we need to be, and they do it using poor grammar.
Right now, I'm on a kick where, when I see a post with the words "ignorance" or "education" in it, I'll go back and proofread the post for grammar & typos and point it out.
Its fun.
Yes, I read the rest of your post --Did you read the rest of my post? A typo isn't a lack of knowledge, it's a slip of the hand.
When Mr Sunshine mentioned the boundaries of ignorance being pushed back, I felt compelled to post about a typo he made.Right now, I'm on a kick where, when I see a post with the words "ignorance" or "education" in it, I'll go back and proofread the post for grammar & typos and point it out.
Yes, and in that post I told you how typos have no connection to ignorance or education. Thus it's hardly hypocrisy when people who are claiming others are not educated or are ignorant to make a typo.Yes, I read the rest of your post --
Did you reed my response?
I said:

Don't tell me I'm ignorant -- (that's my job, and I'm very good at it) -- and do it with poor grammar or typos, or I just might respond with a mirror, or a remark about your typo.
Suit yourself -- I'm not going to argue with you about my style of posting.Yes, and in that post I told you how typos have no connection to ignorance or education.
The people you are bugging for typos.Suit yourself -- I'm not going to argue with you about my style of posting.
I'll probably get tired of it after awhile and move on to something else.
Who knows? or even cares?
Oh, and they sent Insane Duck to be their spokesman? The people you are bugging for typos.
Maybe, but you can't deny the issue wouldn't exist without you. It's a sort of sneer at what would otherwise be an intelligent post that bugs me. Anyway, where were we?Oh, and they sent Insane Duck to be their spokesman?
How's come Mr Sunburst hasn't said anything yet?
More like you're the one who is making an issue about it?
I post fast, but I always read over it at least once on the page. Seriously though, where were we? Creationism is an iron age superstition that should have died by now?Almost!
You're fast!
When Mr Sunshine mentioned the boundaries of ignorance being pushed back, I felt compelled to post about a typo he made.
No argument there.Lacking anything of substance to say, it's no wonder you felt so compelled.
