I'm4Him said:'For I and my father are ONE'
'Hear O Israel, the lord your God is one'
And sorry to say but the UPCI oneness is not an idea. Read your bible and you will see that it is what Jesus said right from the beginning.
Yitzchak said:They don't believe in the Trinity. The believe that the Father, Holy Spirit, and Jesus are all different manifestations of the same God and not individual persons as part of a triune God. If you look closely at trinity teaching, it teaches God in three persons. They teach God in one person.
I4H, rudeness won't get you far. you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. i do believe the rules state that you cannot post against an "orthodox" view of Christianity, as laid out in the nicene creed. if i may take the liberty, i shall quote:I'm4Him said:'For I and my father are ONE'
'Hear O Israel, the lord your God is one'
And sorry to say but the UPCI oneness is not an idea. Read your bible and you will see that it is what Jesus said right from the beginning.
Rule No. 6 - "Christians Only" Forums
6) Some forums on this website are provided for Christian discussion only as indicated in the Category Title. To exclude certain cults and sects that may consider themselves "Christian", the definition of a "Christian" for the purposes of these forums will be members who adhere to the contents of the Nicene Creed which summarizes the main doctrines held by Evangelical Protestant & Catholic Christianity since the beginning of church history to battle heresy. It summarizes issues like the Trinitarian nature of God, the Divinity of Christ and other basic doctrines of orthodox Christianity that are agreed upon by all major Christian denominations and churches. These are listed below:
Nicene Creed
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, light from light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father [and the Son],
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic* and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
*The word "catholic" refers not to the Roman Catholic Church, but to the universal church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
"Christians" who do not adhere to the contents of the above creed are not allowed to post in Christian-only forums and use the Christian icon (this will include Mormons/ LDS, Jehovah's Witnesses, and other denominations which are considered as "cults" by evangelical Christianity. If you are LDS or JW you cannot use the Christian icon - you must use the Mormon or Other-Church icon.) They can however post in the other open forums.
I agree that there ae bigger fish to fry and who can actually say that they completely understand the mysteries of the Godhead?? However, with that said, we cannot avoid this issue forever in church. It will sooner or later come up and needto be discussed.Saulball said:It's kind of hard to comprehend, and bordering on Polytheism really (trinity). I mean God in 3 persons...that's like Me, My dad, and my brother saying we are one. The bible never says God in 3 PERSONS...it actually never teaches alot about the Trinity...Paul never dedicated a chapter to it...although he repeats the scriptures I mentioned above "God the Father, thru our Lord Jesus Christ"...I believe God is fully God...but have we overtaught a principle not really discussed....it has come to a point of much contention. Actually Jews see him as ONE God, not the Trinity. I had a jew tell me that once.. Really is it 3 distinct or different persons, or is it 3 manifestations of that ONE true God...I believe they are like a pie slice into 3 pieces...they are part of the same PIE, but have different jobs....The trinity was taught thru a creed, was it hte Nicene creed? I always thought, if God never discusses it much, we shouldn't either.....I don't think God cares if we see him as 1 or 3 in 1 as long as we have a pure heart and Honor the Lord Jesus Christ...I don't think he cares if we baptise in Jesus name or the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost...he's looking at our heart...we've got bigger fish to fry. Thoughts???
