The church separated from them in many ways.
They held onto the ancient faith whereby Rome modernized the mass.
Thats why they never turned their back on the papal office even when they where exiled by the Papal office.
Besides they had to consecrate bishops for internal reasons.
Its not like they wanted to consecrate new bishops without the recognision of Rome, but without doing so they wouldve been left without priests in a matter of time as their bishops where aging.
it was consecrate bishops without Roman recognision or perish...
would install work better?Consecrate ?
would install work better?
that was the choice that they boxed themselves into, but it wasn't the only choice.
I misspelled and she pointed it out that all there is to it Pam.
lol, good grief...all the Ambassadors must know my name by now, it's being used so frequently as of late.![]()
No. They did not separate. The society existed in the Church and what's his name consecrated bishops. JP told himnot to consecrate any more. They were excommunicated because what's his name consecrated more bishops. They didn't break to do their own thing. They are unique and cannot be compared to other schisms and break aways.they voluntarily separated from the Catholic church, right?
at some point in time after that separation there would have to be a decision made whether to come back or to go forward.
the decision to consecrate more bishops on their own was a step towards that decision, and not a step back towards the Church.
now they are contemplating taking another step--this time perhaps in a direction that will lead them back to the Church.
We'll have to wait and see.
This whole SSPX affair could prove to be the tremendous wisdom of the Holy Ghost in the end of the day really.
Liberalism is growing in the church and SSPX coming back in could give the traditional cardinals the support they need to fight liberalism of in the long term.
wasn't worried eactly, it just felt a bit strange for people i didn't know to know me.I just stepped down so dont worry about me![]()
Not really. I think people are under the impression they were excommunicated for having problems with Vll, they were excommunicated for consecrating those bishops. Once excommunicated they then had no beeswax celebrating mas or operating as parishes.very interesting take on the whole thing, i must say.
i was just sitting here thinking it was a squeeze play between the SSPX on one side and the Liberals on the other,
with the rest of us ordinary VAT2 people in the middle.![]()

fighting a battle on two fronts is hard work!
(and right now we don't know whether the SSPX if they do come back will be an ally or something else.)
Lets call this what it truely is, its a miracle from a loving wise and all powerful God. Praise to his holy name and he has done this for our mother our ever loving a wonderful mother our lady who has tirelessly interceeded for the church truely she is blessed among women.
i guessed that, but they still sound pretty stubborn to me.They`ll definitely be an ally in my eyes...
if they come with open arms instead of up in arms--then it will be a miracle.Lets call this what it truely is, its a miracle from a loving wise and all powerful God. Yeah , I mean it can only be seen as a good thing. I'm excited. Now if we could do only do the same with the Orthodox.Lets call this what it truely is, its a miracle from a loving wise and all powerful God. Why would you have that attitude? This can only be good for the Church.if they come with open arms instead of up in arms--then it will be a miracle.![]()
