• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Could it be...SATAN?

Ah yes, even amidst the recent struggle in the war on Christmas there is another more subtle battle being waged among brethren. Is Santa Claus evil? Is it sinful to teach your children to believe in the "magic" of the big fat man bringing presents while you sleep soundly on Christmas Eve?

Apparently Santa Claus and Satan have much in common.

You ever noticed how easy it is to transform "Satan" from "Santa"? Just move the "n" to the end. And presto! "Satan" appears. . . Hmmm….

This holiday the choice is yours “Jesus Christ or Santa Claus.” Mary’s baby or Santa Claus. Son of the Most High God or Santa Claus.

Santa will fill your stocking,
But Jesus will fill your heart with
Love that never fails,
Peace that surpasseth all understanding
Joy, unspeakably joy.
Santa comes only once a year---Christmas Eve,
But Jesus says, “Lo I am with you always.”
“I will never leave you nor forsake you”
Santa is making a list and checking it twice,
But Jesus has our names written in the
Lamb’s Book of Life.
Santa brings gifts,
But Jesus brought the gift of eternal life.
Santa comes with his sled and reindeer,
But Jesus is coming back with a mighty army
To receive unto Himself, His bride, the Church
Jesus Christ or Santa Claus?

If you've read the table about this, you have seen that Santa is really a counterfeit of the life and mission of Jesus Christ. Why would the devil go through so much trouble to create such a character as Santa?

Furthermore, Santa Claus is a blasphemous false christ.

These are just a few examples of the mentality that Santa Claus is evil. Is it really so wrong to teach small children simple faith with a mystical Santa Claus? Is Santa really an idol?

I had friends who told their daughter that the three wise men came in the night and brought her presents. It was a lie, but they justified it by saying that three wise men were a more "holy" fairy tale than Santa.

So, let's forget the whole war on Christmas for a minute and focus on this war against Santa.

Does anyone here agree with the above statement? Disagree with them, but still opt to not allow their children to believe in Santa? Just curious.

I believed in Santa Claus until I was ten years old. Then I started asking for the expensive presents so that's when my parents had to break the news to me...gently, of course. But now I relive the magic of believing in Santa through my little boy who is very excited about Santa Claus coming to town. I would never take that away from him while the other kids get to enjoy the fun just because I'm worried he will "idolize" Santa. Children are so innocent, and to use your own insecurities to take Santa away from them is robbing them of that innocence.

I can also rotate the letters in the word "lived" to spell "devil".

Haha for some reason the whole rearranging of the letters reminds me of Dana Carvey playing the Church Lady on SNL talking about how evil Santa is. She had those magnetic letters and she rearranged them and said, "SATAN!"

I can rearrange the letters in Jesus Christ to spell sujes strich which means nothing at all.

My sister had a Furby once that said that! It must be some sort of strange, unintelligible language used by the enemy to pass subliminal messages on to our children. Oh heavens...no!

I don't think the idea of santa is evil, but making that the meaning of christmas and ignoring the true meaning isn't exactly good. I think telling of the real St. Nick and how he did live is okay, but telling them that santa is real and such is wrong because it's lying. Santa Clause isn't real.
