• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

You could have ADD or ADHD, but dont self diagnose. In order to know for sure you should go see your doctor.

And it might not even be ADD or ADHD, it could be a mild learning disability or mental challenge, but you will have to get tested by your doctor to know for sure.

Its Definately Possible. I have ADHD and if your grades are being affeected then I do suggest mabey seeing a doctor to get tested. Most people though they may have it don't take medicine or seek help unless it effects their performance. I take Medicine because it effects how I can concentrate. Ask your parent or Guardian if they could make an appointment. Let me know if all goes well. I will Pray for You =)

God Bless,

You might just be being a kid...:)...Too often do people rush to a judgement on ADD and ADHD these days. You definately do not want to self diagnose yourself, or take any medication without a full series of both behavior and intelligence testing.

My son was diagnosed ADHD, and I found out that there are different types, for example, my son was diagnosed with a form of ADHD that does not include any of the violent or agressive behavior. His symptoms however went beyond simple focus issues.

When I was a child I was disobedient and lacked focus in school because I was simply bored.

I home school both of my kids now. My son and I both have ADD and are both on different doses. My son will graduate one year early this year from highschool after being on medication. It really helps him concentrate on his studies. I can hold down jobs longer and remember tasks that I am assigned better.

Not necessarily, difficulty with completing assignments and homework could be related to many other issues. Maybe you have an undiagnosed learning disability, maybe you aren't challenged enough and get bored because you are gifted. It is very important to get a proper check up with testing done to eliminate the other causes of your symptoms before going on Medication.
