Could a demon in physical form attack a Christian?

Believe it or not, but I'm being attacked by a demon right now. I blasted 3 of his friends with a shotgun, but he dodged my bullets and is now hammering against my bedroom door! I only have one bullet, but I know for sure that he is not going to take me alive!

Oh my God he's coming through! I'm sorry for everything I have told you, I hope we see each other again in the another life.

My cat's been rather demonic today, and has certainly physically harmed the curtains. Feeding him supper has seemingly brought him back to being cuddly and well behaved, so perhaps there's your answer: if a demon tries to hurt you, feed it some nice cat food and stroke its back fur.

Given the claim that demons cannot possess the faithful, only unbelievers, it seems rather odd that the vast majority of supposed possessions occur among believers and the instances among atheists are almost unheard of.

Depends on the religion. Christian demons are possessing spirits and corrupting inlfluences, so it wouldn't suit their idiom to physically attack someone. What would they gain? That's assuming they even could.

Japanese demons, Oni, (which are influenced by Chinese demons) are servants of the celestial order and also seek to tempt and corrupt Man. They may manifest physically and have been known to physically punish evil people.

Also the word 'demon' is very loose- Chinese would for example consider Vampires to be demons whereas we'd consider them undead.

If you've ever read HP Lovecraft, you'd probably consider the Elder Gods 'demons' or 'demon lords', but they're not, not really.

Umm...that's about it for now.

Well, most "demonic" posesions are just mental illnesses.
But I have seen and done things...........
Let's say some things cannot be explained today through science but maybe in the future.
We have only beginig to tape the human mind. Yes I know ESP cannot be effective measured and doest not exist.

I initially wanted to voice my concern about people who still, in the TWENTY FIRST CENTURY, BELIEVE IN DEMONS and USE THE INTERNET to DISCUSS THEIR SUPPOSED CHARACTERISTICS , but then I remembered that belief in God is no more or less ridiculous and unfounded and I didn't do it.

I know of some cases of "demon" attacks. I knew a woman you worked in the sex industry that had "boogeyman" dreams. She claimed that in her sleep a boogeyman came to her to rape her and strangle her. The funny thing is that she had marks in her body. I asked her if she was sexualy abused as kid, as seems to be common with many women who work in the sex industry. She answer me that no, she can´t recall be abused at all. But she started to exchange sex for favors at 13. My theory is that she represed her abuse and the boogeyman dreams and the body marks are her mind reflecting the abuse. He was not religious, in fact she was a soft atheist (like most agnostics) but she started to believe the boogey man was real. I thought she was becoming mentally ill but she was normal in very other aspect. In may opinion most demon attacks can be explained in that way. A unresolved internal conflict resulting in delutions and somatic manifestations.
Some other are more difficult since involve things like ESP phenomena that modern science do not accept well. On that latter.

It is the love of the Lord that repels the demon from whosoever chooses the Lord, so a demon in human form would be repelled just as any other demon if the person the demon attacked kept true their love of the Lord.

What about people who don't choose the Lord? They are also not attacked by demons, which suggests that either demons never attack people. I for example, have never been attacked by a demon. Zombie, yes, but not demons...curse those zombies, for they are hard to kill.

I don't believe a demon can physically manifest. Not even possess a person unless it's fully voluntary(invocation). And even then the experience is kept under control.

I work with spirits/demons. Obviously I don't believe it in the same way Christians do. As far as I'm concerned they are just like humans(sense of morality included). Just more advanced and older. I don't see why a demon would even care to attack a Christian, or any other person. Maybe if they made it mad. But if you even have the ability to make it THAT mad you would know that it isn't a good idea to make it mad in the first place.

I think it's a lot more likely that I'll be attacked by an atheist or Christian

You don't work with demons because they're not real. I'm sure you think they are and have had many spooooky experiences. Guess what? You imagined them, you dreamt them or you took too many illegal substances.

I never claimed they were real. As far as I'm concerned I don't care if I'm imagining it. If I am, that's awesome. What changes? Nothing. I get the results I want. How can I know that the computer I'm sitting on is real? How can I know my mom is sentient? I can't. So I just assume it as 'reality'. But I keep the possibility open for Solipsism and the fact that I might just be insane and in a dream world.

Jungian archetypes, external entities or imagination. I get my results. I'm not trying to prove to anyone that what I believe in is real but I thought that since this is a forum I should try to put in a non-christian/whatever opinion about them. It's quite sad that I can't even voice my opinion/views without being accused of using illegal substances. And this on a Religious forum.

BTW, I guess what I do is close to 'Demonolatry'. And maybe 'work' wasn't the best of words to use.

As far as I've read, there is no mention of demons ever appearing in physical form, apart from in the book of Revelation. The spirits of demons can possess people, certainly, after all Jesus and the Apostles are recorded to have driven demons out of people.

If you want to resist a demon, you must have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour, and 'put on the full armour of God':

Ephesians 6:10-12 (NIV)
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Well demons attacks and possesions are reported in several non christian religions. Like amerindian shamanisms, taoism and african paganism like santeria. In most cases they are hysterical manifestations of internal mental struggles of the person. As Wr4aith said, I do not care if they are unreal or not, for the posessed they are real. And yes through magic one can manipulate those demons. That is how exorcism works.
But, and here I going into the most "myth-fi" part od my post, something that esceptics will find hard to swallow. Maybe, just maybe, it can be possible that some persons not only can act out when possesed, they can influence other persons at distances. The so called poltergeists (yes suspend total disbelief here) can be a case of a person influencing and attacking another person. Mosty in an non voluntary way but some times through magic a person can manipulate his mind to do it in a voluntary way. The problem is proving that ESP actually does exist. Much less one can manipulate it voluntarily.

On another note the bible does not say that demons mated with women to create the giants it says the sons of God did so.
