  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is anyone here a somewhat to serious costumer, who enjoys making and wearing costumes besides halloween? I know some Christians don't celebrate this holiday. =P

If so, How long have you been doing this? What kind of costumes do you make? What kind of events do you attend for costuming? And finally, do you have any pictures of your work so we can see it?

As for me, I've been sewing and wearing costumes since 2002. I usually attend sci-fi and animation conventions, so I make costumes from that, as well as video games. I'd like to make some period costumes and attend ren faires eventually. ^_^ I have a website for my costumes too.

I just checked out your site. I love your work. No, I don't make costumes. But I am a beginning level sewer, and I would like to start making my own clothing...more than just simple drawstring pants and long sleeve t-shirts.:D My taste in clothes is a bit odd, so maybe they'll be more like costumes than regular clothes???

Well, please share away. I think it's very interesting.

I'm a member of the SCA, the medievalist re-enactors. My wife sews the clothes but I'm working on my armor. It's a great excuse for dress up.

What do you use for making armor? Do you actually use metals, or do you use other methods? I've been wanting to make armor myself for certian costumes, but I'm just too lazy to attempt it. =P I've heard of some nifty methods of using craft foam, and styrene sheeting, amoung other things. It's lightweight and looks really awesome when painted and finished.

I'm at the very beginning stages of costuming. Only made one dress yet, based on a classc simplicity pattern. At the moment I'm considdering two other patterns. I'm just learning to sew but I'm quite skilled at embroidery or beadwork to finnish things. I go to fantasy events or medieval fairs as much as I can, which is unfortunately not too often.
