  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This title made me smile and I had to post. Had some friends a while back who were from England. Spent some time in England and Wales. For the most part, the people treated me wonderfully and I loved my time over there. I'd one day like to go back for a visit.

sorry to disappoint you but at the time of life when I was in London I was trying to fry my brains. Let me think. I don't recall a whole lot. But don't answer it yet.

I wasn't born in England and never lived there, although I have a grandfather who came from England.

My university prof came from England to do a post doc in the USA. Because of some technicalities, he had to register as a student first. As part of his registration as a international student, he had to write an English Competency Test. He had fun with that, ol' boy! ;)

Hockey in a convent...maybe not, but I share your passion...got hooked a few years ago...Go Flyers!

lol! I'm in the process of getting my British friend hooked on the sport as well. He lives in Bristol, UK. Actually, I think he's already hooked...just hasn't taken that big step of admitting it yet! lol!! Actually, he and a player on my favourite team (Vancouver Canucks) share the same name with different spellings on the last name.

Hmmmm.....British Humour anyone? Sorry I couldn't think of anything else...my brain is fried at the moment from a sugar buzz from dinner/dessert. lol! :yum:

I wasn't born in England but I have a friend whose mother is from England and she visited there quite a bit as a child. A few months ago we were shopping together and she had me all over town looking for imported Cadbury chocolate from Britian. She swore that the Cadbury chocolate from the US was just not the same! :)

At least I think it was Cadbury, now I am not so sure......

Yeah there is a difference. At least a difference in European chocolate. Richer taste, seem to have a bit of coffe like flavor. Once you have it you won't want US chocolate. The same could be said about beer. The Beer is just better over there than here.

That's what my friend says. I have another friend that brings me chocolate from Switerland sometimes, and it is very good. It seems to have a different texture than US chocolate. Smoother or something. Whatever it is, it is heavenly! :yum:

Oh no! Please don't defame the name of Hershey's!!! ;) I adore chocoloate, no matter where it is from. Is there ever such a thing as bad chocolate???

Oh, maybe this is another thread topic. Sorry for the derailment! When the subject of chocolate comes up, nothing else seems to matter...... :D

There's good chocolate and REAL good chocolate. Hershey's good. The stuff across the pond is REAL good. :yum:

Hmm, you'd think a thread about England would produce something else beside their yummy chocolate. *shrug* Who knew?
