Coping with BPD

And it's the hardest thing in the world to do. But I know I can make it through with Gods help. I do have times where I think my friends don't want to have anything to do with me. Times when I feel like the whole world is out to get me. I was basically diagnosed with BPD because they couldn't place me in any of the other mental illnesses because I had some but not enough symptoms of each. Yuck. lol. But God is always here and I know that.

Are you in therapy? Are you learning coping skills to deal with the negative emotions and not act out? A good therapist will help you do that.

Also there are medications that allow the symptoms to be more manageable.

Yeah, I'm on Effexor XR and Risperdal. I'm in therapy. And I'll hopefully be going to a group this fall just for Borderline personality disorder patients. I just feel kind of upset, because I think I really hurt my friends. And now some of them won't talk to me.

Guilt over our past mistakes only makes us stay sick. I hurt my children terribly when they were young. I also hurt my husband. He divorced me after 25 years. My kids still have problems now and then with memories. They are adults now.

What I am trying to say is not to worry about your friends. Pray and ask the Lord for forgiveness. Apologize to them. Don't make excuses for your behavior. Just say you are sorry and you are trying to change. PERIOD. If they forgive you, great. If they don't, you learned a hard lesson about life and friendship.

If we constantly beat ourselves up over the past we are giving the Devil victory in our lives. Jesus says we are new creatures in Him. If you believe it you have to start to live it.

Change is hard, but it is worth it.

Thanks a ton. Yeah, everybody is telling me I sound a lot better. But I do still hold on to the past. Partly because I don't want to believe that the friendships I had are over. But yeah, God will totally help me through this. And the support of everybody that does still care will pull me through too.

My BPD is acting up tonight. I just asked my friends a question that had been on my mind forever. Because there are some of them who seem to be afraid of me now. And I just feel like they are thinking of me as someone they never want to see again. I hate my borderline. I wish it would all just go away and leave me alone.

For years I hated my BPD, and myself. I was angry at God for allowing me to be abused and become Borderline.

I learned to take control of my behavior, and my emotions. It was hard work, but worth it. It helped me get rid of the disorder altogether.

Keep working on it. Don't fret over the past. Keep looking forward, and making positive changes in your behavior today.

Ugh. One of my friends wrote me an e-mail telling me the reason she wasn't talking to me was because we didn't have the healthiest relationship. I told her I was sorry but I don't know if she forgave me or not. BPD sucks.

well, it's nice to know there are other people out here with similar problems to my own.
mostly i just tell people unless i feel i'm about to have an "issue", because my other personality can be quite... violent and rude.

it's all good, innit?

mine just seems to be a real problem if i get depressed.

Hi Angeluv! I'm glad to see that you have some really sweet people who are giving you support for your BPD. My daughter has BPD. She meets all of the criteria and has been in therapy for 3 years. Thanks. Yeah BPD is really not fun. It makes me unable to perform certain tasks. And it makes me feel lonely all the time. Like no one cares. I'm glad there are people who seem to have similar things and help me through it.

With BPD is it common to think about things that mean the world to you that you just can't have all the time. Because like me I got suspended from my college because of my series of symptoms in almost every group there is. And I want to go back there, but I'm like obsessing over it. And my friends, I think about them all the time.
